There’s nowt wrong with a bit of bread and jam now and again.. sandwich or open.

Even better if the jam is home made, and the bread.

Jam on toast is grand but in a sandwich it is disgusting.

I've just had a compo cheese spread sandwich - wasn't bad, but a bit salty...... not a fan of jam at all, but thick cut marmalade on toast is my fave...

It would be below Syd Hound, anyway he is of a generation who don't know how to make them and Greggs don't sell them.

As log as it's decent bread and freshly made, yeah, I'll have a jam butty. Leave it too long and the jam soaks into the bread at which point I'll decline.

SS. Do you mean that you've got a knob of butter that is only useful for spreading on crumpets?

So answer is yes.

I don't think I have ever had a jam sandwich in my life. We couldn't afford anything so exotic when I was a nipper and when I started on the building sites it was cheese all the way. Have I been missing out?

They wouldn’t get anything as nourishing as a jam sandwich in prison.

I went to school with kid who had butter sandwiches and sugar sandwiches for a treat.  No jam going on there.

I always liked jam sarnies, but when I was a kid my mother would never pack me them up as a take out because they were classed as cheap, lower working-class sandwiches. Ironically, lower working class is probably what we were, but my mother always insisted on us taking out quality sandwiches made with quality bread. I think it was called mother's pride in those days.

Ho-Ho-Hovis.

During the War, my grandmother used to bake her own bread, and because times were hard, to stop the family eating it too quickly, she used to put stuff in it that they'd choke on if they gobbled it down. Usually buttons.

I think they ca....actually, f**k this. I've got too much pride to follow this through.

I was partial to a Treacle (Golden syrup) sandwich especially for Breakfast

Then I would travel on School bus and was a bad traveller - motion sickness

One morning on the School driveway I was violently ill. Passing Teacher (Josh Kelly - what a character) stopped to help me out.

Have you had any breakfast boy he asked. Yes sir a Treacle Sandwich I replied. Not surprised you were sick then he said and carried on .

Seriously it’s a lot tidier around the village since KFC and Mc D’s has shut
