With the lock down a little taster of the sort of life they would like people to follow, do you think this could be the end of them.

No

It all depends when Chuka Umunna decides to join them.

I would say with the improvements in air quality around the world that it would only strengthen the backing for the Green Party

And yet my industry (woodburning stoves) has taken an absolute hammering these last two years with false news articles blaming woodburners as the major contributing factor to air pollution.
People have been forced to stay at home and have been using their burners even more as there's been some cold evenings and mornings but the air quality is loads better.
So, the powers that be could and should phase out petrol and diesel cars now, but they won't because of the big oil companies who pull the strings.

Hopefully we move to more working from home to ease congestion and pollution.

You can check pollution levels via this citizen science project although the neasrest monitor is on the way to Hatfield

The main change in transport will be air travel, my tip is it will become expensive and back to be the domain of the rich, like it was until the sixties.
No more cheap package holidays, and cruises will be out of favour and again expensive.
When places like London look into the money they have lost with congestion charge and transport costs, the attitude to personal car transport may change, they already lose a fortune to people going about on false number plates especially in South London.
Electric cars will only have a limited effect because of numbers, and the cost, plus logistical problems of charging and range, but the big problem is going to be the installation and cost of the charging infrastructure to support any large increase in the numbers on the road.

I still don't understand how Selby comes to this conclusion? The Green Party don't want people to live in lockdown...

Just out of interest Nudga what vehicle do you use in your line of work?

OK, I see what you're doing there.
I have a f**ked up diesel transit van. Once certain business related finances have been tied up, I will be getting an electric van.

I am presuming that he thinks that: with destruction of the environment in the devolving world combined with the subsequent encroachment of people into the last few wild places along with dangerous levels of air pollution leading to the birth and spread of a fatal global virus that science is as yet unable to counter - combined with the personal health benefits that many people have experienced from walking & cycling during the lockdown - mainstream political parties will now be forming their future policies, on a greener and more public friendly basis with environmentalism at the heart of them - thus there will be no need for the Green Party as they will all be 'green parties'.
Could be wrong but I prefer to be charitable.

Not a bad effort, have you thought of applying to be a UN interpreter Wilts?

That reminds me of the “defend the indefensible” round on Fighting Talk, the Saturday sports quiz on radio 5.!

Nothing meant underhand Nudga, just wondered if you already had an electric vehicle of some kind.

Ah OK, apologies for reading that wrong.
I love the concept of electric vehicles, they need better batteries and I'd like to see an integrated solar panel on them, either in the roof or one that folds out when the vehicle is stationary.

When you do get one you’ll not be able to charge it at Asda as there’s always some fat f**k parked in the spaces smoking while their fat f**k wife is buying unhealthy snap for their fat f**k kids!

I am prepared to bet a small pile of logs they won't be there very long when Nudga turns up in his van...

Very true, I called out a meat head in a merc who parked in a parent and child spot.
He thought I'd back down but I called his bluff.
He disappeared in a huff.

I have seen more and more women park in the mother and child spot when they haven’t got a child with them.
