Title: Mr Speaker ... could I just suggest that
Post by: Donnywolf on May 11, 2020, 08:58:51 pm
.... each MP asking a question / raising a point  should start his / her submission "Mr Speaker blah blah blah etc"

Similarly the person answering should start "Mr Speaker ..... blah blah blah"

This would speed things up and relieve the monotony of people like Johnson saying Mr Speaker about 3 times a sentence - and would have the benefit of still being polite

Enough is enough Mr Speaker I recommend this motion to this Forum

It's got to be Dutch Uncle for me. Completely impartial; never takes sides in arguments on here.

BST has got to be Black Rod. Only because I'd love to see him in black tights.

That's a relief. You obviously haven't hacked my webcam.

... lol

... but seriously on the OP - cant they do away with saying "Mr Speaker" every 10 seconds as its archaic and adds nothing to parliamentary procedure(s)

Similarly the set piece "Prime Ministers Question Time" is something that needs to be looked at and possibly modernised or better yet abolished altogether- and the recent evidence is all we need.

We need to modernise Parliament itself (Ive left all Parties / Electoral systems out of this as I am speaking about Parliament itself not politics itself)
