Whoever went for N played a blinder.
We have a new signing to announce.
-
How have they managed to give it away in one letter
-
Lokilo?
-
Well, the ongoing game of Hangman currently suggests we're signing someone having a seizure.
-
Well that game was short and sweet now we just have to wait and see who it is.
-
4pm announcement?
-
My money is on Lokilo
-
Lokilo or Sadlier.
-
Gonna have to push on if they want to do it by 4pm unless they get the 5th person to ask to solve it.
Bit surprised we are doing it today rather than wait till Monday training

They don’t say when they’ll announce it, probably 11th September 🤪🤪

Well played forced the clubs hand 4 o'clock ready everyone
-
A lot of people going to be disappointed if it's a new sponsor!
-
It’s Lokilo
-
One year deal
-
I would hope theres an option for a further year
-
Good start hopefully we have an option to extend at least another season.
-
That's good news.

Same. I'd assume it's not because of Covid and he's still inexperienced and he might not develop but if he does an option for a second year would protect us.
-
I’m very happy if this is the sort of player we are looking to sign. I just hope we are able to watch sooner rather than later.
-
Just waiting for the next one now

Well I thought covid is probably a consideration, but all the same I agree with what you say
-
A one year deal is right for a player like this. He's unproven but has promise, and in these Covid times it wouldn't be sensible to hand out two year deals to players with 20 minutes of League One football under their belt.
I'm happy with it.

Something in both I think.
Massive amount of financial uncertainty with no idea of if/when we'll see any income from fans being let into grounds probably limits the amount of exposure the club can have from commiting to extended deals.
Also we've handed out long contracts reasonably recently to young relatively unproven players and it hasn't worked out for either party.

An option for a further year costs nothing and protects the club

It's not wanting a straight two year deal though. It's wanting a one year deal with an option of a second. Then if he does well and everything goes OK with Covid we can protect our investment. I agree throwing long deals to everyone would be daft now.

I don't disagree, but (based on the assumption we haven't negotiated this already) there's nothing procluding the club from re-visting the deal down the line when there's a little more certainty on and off the pitch.

Happy with the addition, but I do think one year deals are a little short sighted for our ‘permanent’ acquisitions. While he’s light on league experience, we’ve had a good look at him and we know what we’re getting. Bearing in mind we’re likely to go heavy on loan deals again, this doesn’t give us a great deal of continuity beyond the current campaign which is surely the club’s aim notwithstanding the current financial climate.
If he does as well as we hope then he’ll be in a position to command more money and / or sign elsewhere.
-
Pleased with this well done everyone at Rovers

I think any club in League One and below handing out multiyear contracts in the current financial climate needs their head checking. I will be surprised if we sign anyone new on more than a 12 month deal.

If he does well up till January then we can start negotiations to extend for say another year at least
