I see Handcock has brought this in as from Monday to allow all his Newmarket mates to attend the St Leger meeting this week.
If this doesn't show the "working class" idiots of Doncaster who voted for a government who doesn't give a shit about them nothing will.

You do realise that social gatherings of more than 6 are already not permitted and have been for some time outside of celebrations?

Have you been in a pub recently?

And there's the problem.
On the one hand, you have the actual, sensible regulations.
In the other, you have the idiot we call PM gurning at the cameras and shouting "Independence Day!" when lockdown was lifted. You have the Foreign Secretary urging people to get out socialising.
So, inevitably, many people will not process the detail of the letter of the law. They will take their cue from the mood music put out by the Govt.

Once, there were 5 other people in it, far far less than normal.
I agree somewhat BST on the message, unfortunately the population appears to listen to the messages they want to listen to only.

It’s not the fault of the guidelines that some pubs choose not to enforce them.

Well, they're only following the example set by Dominic Cummings.

Pubs etc can have more than 6 people, but in groups of 6 or less.
I think the reasoning is that gatherings in public places or at work, can be controlled - in theory if we could go to the football the most who could sit together would be 6 then distanced from other groups.
In private homes however there is no control.
People are getting blase about this and there’s no wonder given the continual rolling goatf**k of how the government has managed the situation.
A world beating test and trace system when someone in the Scottish isles is advised to travel to Portadown in N Ireland for a test.?
Someone is having a bubble.
And don’t get me started on the stop-start quarantine - that should have been a blanket measure in February.

Nail. Head.
Once Cummings was supported by Govt, all moral authority was lost. Once you say "These are the rules for everyone, but I personally reserve the right to stick by them or not as I see fit", you have lost the reins.

There should be one unified message from the Government. There shouldn't be differing messages to follow on an issue like this.
Social gatherings of 6+ are banned. But you should get back to the office, doesn't matter if you need to use public transport. Also young people, don't go out and socialise, but also get back to normality and go to school.

All rest of Leger now behind closed doors - too late for today though
Poor Hancock and poor Dido Harding - managed Cheltenham going ahead but "lost" Donny
Credit to St Leger Hotel management who decided unilaterally to close their doors for the duration of the 4 days. They said it was not worth the risk to let loads of people loose in their Hotel even though (they didnt say this) they could have recouped a bit of money

Yes and I had better change my typo - as one who corrects those who call it St Le(d)ger
St Lager would get good sponsorship no doubt
