Title: Oxford vaccine trials
Post by: scawsby steve on September 09, 2020, 08:42:01 pm
Now halted because a volunteer patient has fallen ill.

It just gets better today.

I heard that on the evening news SS.
There are other vaccine trials underway though so all is not lost.
Also, as was said on the bulletin, it is better for a problem to be raised now than later on when it had been administered to lots of people.

Depends whether the person was taking the vaccine or a placebo I guess.

This is why they have trials. And why the experts have said that it is unlikely there will be one publically available until next year.

Johnson should stop promising things he is unable to deliver - just for a day of cheap headlines - tell people the truth, and then celebrate when we have got it.

They also said it’s a regular Occurrence and might not have anything to do with the trail, and did Johnson promise there would be a vaccine soon or is he just trying to sound more positive, some people should try it sometimes it works wonders

I thought it was common knowledge that a vaccine wouldn’t be available until next year.

Dunno Blackpool, what do you reckon the chances are of Johnson promising something he is unable to deliver. Anyway it doesn't matter if he delivers or not, his fans don't care.

I wouldnt want the vaccine personally - so there is no way I would volunteer to be a guinea pig in trials like this

he pledges to do all he can with world class scientists to get a vaccine as soon as can, what’s up with that? Should he say we’re not going to get a vaccine and were not even going to bother trying?

Too many people politicising this virus. We don't expect politicians to create vaccines and eliminate viruses; we expect scientists to do it.

At the moment, they don't look remotely like they can solve it.

I think you're a bit previous with your comments Steve, the tests are only in the early stages and predicted by experts to be lengthy.

It’s not a certainty that we will ever have a vaccine.

Johnson will say anything to try and make himself look good. His world beating track and trace isn't doing too well is it?  Optimism is fine but lies is another thing.

SS, I clicked “like” on your post.
Not because I actually like the thought that we may never get a vaccine but because of your opening sentence.

So you actually think our world beating track and trace is working?

Hound/SS.

As I've said before, there were people criticising Churchill in 1938 for his complaints against Chamberlain's appeasement policy.

You seem to conflate pointing out mistakes & flat out lies with "politicising". How are we ever to hold politicians to account if we don't, all of us, discuss what they do and point out the egregious errors?

It's not PMQ just answer the question

Depends whether the person was taking the vaccine or a placebo I guess.

The placebo is actually a vaccine, the menigitis one I believe. So either way, it's concerning.

Bizarre that with all vaccine trials, the placebo is another vaccine rather than saline. ie it isn't placebo.

On the subject of politicising the virus, I've just seen Hancock in Parliament goading the Labour party and shouting, "these people opposed the 100,000 tests."

I'll rise above the shocking grammar; does anyone recall anyone in the Labour party EVER opposing plans to conduct 100,000 tests per day? Ever?

In which case, why on earth should the Secretary of State for Health be saying that?

Thanks BRR. I wasn’t aware of that.

I refer the honourable gentlemen to the answer I gave earlier. In fact both the answers I gave earlier:

A statement of intent is not always a lie thou, I’m sure he thought, or was told he could get so many test available for whatever date, unfortunately it didn’t happen, does it mean it’s a lie? Maybe it does and I’m wrong. Not sure where he has lied on the post you put the link up thou?

He promises something and when he fails to achieve it he then promises something better and keeps on going higher and higher. That's Johnson for you. THE BLONDE BULLSHITTER.
