Set to sign on loan, midfielder who has recently been on loan at New York red bulls. Played a few times in the premier league too. Looks a top signing
-
Where did you get that one from lol
-
Gonna need a source before I get my hopes up but would be a very good signing.
E: Just checked, seems to be Mike Mcgrath on Twitter. Who also says Barnsley have made another bid for Whiteman...

Not a defensive midfielder!

Not a defensive midfielder!
Can play centre mid, out wide or as a number 10 according to Southampton fans on Twitter

Another bid from Barnsley for Whiteman
-
They have got to get a manager first
-
Who's Barnsley's manager now? There may be a chance Whiteman moves now that other pillock who said he still needs development has gone to NYRB. :chair:
Need to be doing everything we can to keep Whiteman!!!! COYR!!!!
-
Just because Barnsley are interested does not mean that Whiteman has any intention to leave or to go there..
-
It sounds like it might be the board/director of football (if they have one) at Barnsley who wants Whiteman, probably sees him as a safe investment. Which would explain Struber's lukewarm comments about him being a "development player" - maybe Struber wasn't that bothered about signing Ben, but the decision to pursue him was taken by those above him.

Understand #drfc have rejected latest #barnsleyfc bid for Ben Whiteman. That bid which was inexcess of 7 figs went in on Monday. I'm told it's unlikely at this stage that another offer will be made, but that can change.

Mowatt must be on the move.
-
Hopefully that's that. Credit to the board for holding firm so far, if he does go let's hope we get what he's worth with a fat sell-on clause for good measure.

And possibly credit to Ben if we assume he doesn’t want to go there.?

Sims only played 9 game on loan in the USA
it seems strange that Sims went on loan to New York Bulls and now Struber has gone to manage there as but cant work out the coincidence relevance (if there ia one)
Guessing could Simm's girlfriend have been American ? (for what its worth) have seen loan like this done for the same reason.

Struber was right he is a development player, he needs to be developed into a championship player. He’s not a player with vast championship experience his he.
We have recruitment team, they sign the players, the head develops them into better players.
Struber wanted someone with proven championship qualities.
-
Josh Sims, never heard of him our rumour mill is useless. Doesn't anyone know any good rumours nowadays.
-
To be fair, many of our signings go under the radar anyway, which is how it should be..

So your saying Barnsley team when it went up and that of Luton and Rotherham all needed further development? Don't agree with that, some players just have natural gift and ability to play at a higher level. Ben is one of those and will know which team he'd like to play for if they came in with the right offer. Most definitely does not look like its Barnsley

Bullshit.
Whiteman is in his prime years, he’s had several seasons now and came from Sheffield Utd - hardly a tinpot club.
He’s one of the top midfielders in league one - now - so it isn’t a big stretch to say he would be ready to play in the championship right now..
An untried 19 year old but talented league 2 midfielder could be considered suitable for development in the championship.
To say that about Whiteman is quite frankly insulting.
-
If the German sod is that keen on him he would want Ben at red bull and we could get even more money 💰 from the deal
-
Can’t see why Whiteman would want to go to a yo-yo club like Dingles. Wait another year and potentially get a move to a Blackburn / Preston Level club

Whoever's handling your transfer dealings obviously disagrees!

Or move to Barnsley for more wages now, then still move to Blackburn or PNE next season. Not like we wouldn’t sell him is it, he knows as well as we do he’s only coming here for more money and and prove he’s championship standard, then he’s off for a bigger wedge.

Hoden reckons that there is nothing expected to happening today - re Sims
-
You are obviously obsessed with signing him Dingle, so we have put the price up to £4 million now, plus a s hefty sell on of course.
-
He also says there is a good chance we will be bringing in more then 1 player tomorrow.... Sims and Ennis maybe ?

Get on the phone and get Simms and Ennis signed then pull the Simms out the phones i say :chair:

Matt Smith, defensive midfielder, moving out on loan somewhere in L1?
More of a fit for our requirements.

I assume you mean the Welsh international at Man City. If so, I doubt it - with Championship teams interested...
