I would like to see louis Jones given a proper run in nets. The loan keepers we have had this season are no better in my opinion.

Agreed. Rather give him the run until January let him prove his worth if not sort it in January but until then what I've seen of him he looks more than capable and with a few games under his belt confidence will only grow.

Minus the mistake from Lumley for the second goal I don't think he's been bad at all.

2 blunders though so far. Last night he may as well have chucked the ball in the net himself. Then the one against Blackpool where he voted the 50/50 which led to them scoring. Well it was more 70/30 to him hence why he bottled it.
He made some good saves last night tbf but I’d expect him to make them.

Every goalkeeper makes mistakes and rather than castigating him for being human a bit of support wouldn’t go amiss - Lumley is short term probably until January when I anticipate Darren will sign a permo keeper - Louis Jones is our future but not now there’s no benefit In ruining a lad now so we don’t get the full benefits of him later

I think Lumley has been OK overall, aside from the mistake last night, but how bad is his kicking sometimes?
He put us in trouble countless times last night by trying to float the ball into midfield or out to the full backs and we lost the ball almost every time. If you're Ederson and you've got top level international full backs in front of you to float the ball into, it's probably not a bad tactic, but 3rd tier players with slightly dodgy first touches? Bit silly to me.

If Jones plays before January then we are f**ked if we need an emergency loan keeper should Jones get injured or suspended.
As the emergency loan is only 7 days at a time, I don’t know if we could take on a different keeper to Lumley.?
We need to sign up a new keeper in the window either a transfer or a half season loan - we may be forced by COVID finance issues..
I’ve been impressed with Jones and would be delighted for him to get a chance.
Jury is out on Lumley, not impressed with his distribution. Made a couple of decent saves last night but one costly mistake..

Bursik played 26 games for England from U17 to U21, just kept two clean sheets for Stoke in successive away games.
Lumley 70 odd first team appearances in the Championship.
Drop the goalie after one mistake?
Seny Dieng wouldn't have played many games last season if that was the criteria.
Jones' time will come.
Rush him too soon, destroy his confidence if he makes a mistake, and it might not.

Some of the posts make me despair. Let’s hang Lumley out to dry shall we after 1 mistake.
He made some excellent saves last night and if it wasn’t for him we would have been dead an buried before we got that equaliser that almost got us a point.
He is an excellent keeper imo.
Every keeper makes a mistake every now and then. The ball just bounced fractionally before he had got both hands firmly on the ball and squirmed away from him.
As a keeper myself (some 45 years ago) I really feel for him because it has happened to me. He will be feeling awful this morning and probably didn’t sleep well last night.
It’s very tough being a keeper. One mistake and it’s a goal. Outfield players can make 10 bad passes in a match and nothing is often said at all.

Lumley shouldn’t have dropped it, but a big culprit there was Cameron John ball watching instead of covering Eaves, its easy to say he wouldn’t expect him to drop it as an excuse, but he should be anticipating him dropping it just in case, he should be following in making sure he gets between the ball and Eaves, instead he stood and watched

We cant give Jones a go yet because we need an emergency loan keeper.
Jury still out on Lumley he is so slow off his line like against Blackpool and last night when I think we got away with one. I wouldn't say he is an excellent keeper at all though.

Lumley made a mistake #bigwow every keeper does he’s played best part of 80 games in the Championship that gives you an indication of his pedigree

I’m more concerned over his distribution than his mistake.. for what I’ve seen, Jones is better at distribution..

I don’t rate Lumley - he’s made some decent saves but flaps at crosses, is hesitant off his line/when diving at feet (cost us a goal against Blackpool and almost a penalty last night) and his kicking is very casual. He’s no more than a stop gap solution for me and I hope we are looking to get a deal done now so that a new keeper can come in for at least the rest of the season as soon as we hit January.

Personally, I feel more assured with Lumley than Bursik. I think he's better and crosses and does catch the ball more comfortably. All keepers dropped one or two from time to time and it's costly. Even Dieng had the odd clanger.
Jones has promise no doubt but we haven't seen enough of him to say he's the final solution or any better than Bursik or Lumley.

Different contexts - that game we were 2-0 up and cruising.. last night we had looked to pinch a draw and Hull’s late winner was a sickener..

I didn’t particularly rate Bursik either but he didn’t make any mistake as clear or poor as Lumley’s last night. Dieng played near enough a full season and that Bolton drag back is the only one I can remember, Lumley’s only played, what, three games?

People are forgetting that Lumley made a great save to keep us in the game when Hull carved us wide open.
Also, no matter who's in goal, we just can't defend free kicks this season. I knew that would end up in the net last night, as soon as the free kick was awarded.

Watch it again. Wilks left his leg on Lumley. He was doing what most strikers try and do unfortunately and cheat.
Ref got it spot on. Not many do, most fall for it.
As for the free kick that Hull scored. Wright never touched him, he conned the ref with that one 100% and on both those decisions that is not me being biased.
Others may disagree but I am convinced.
Someone tried to close the free kick down and left a huge gap where the ball was kicked and Lumley had no chance whatsoever.

No I wasn’t criticising someone charging the free kick. I was criticising the gap that was left. Great strike but there should not have been so much goal to aim at.
We are really poor at defending free kicks. How many goals already this season? It’s a few.
If we have a wall it should be doing a job it’s intended to do.
As soon as they got that free kick and saw our wall i said this is a goal.

Totally agree. Lumley should have saved or directed it more towards the corner flag, but John should have reacted better than he did. He didnt even try and put Eaves off. Poor defending.

on the save yes he should of done better but it looks as though it hit his knee as he was bringing it into him but yeah John should have done better

What is noticeable is how small players we have in our side the last few games have shown that. So Our walls become small fences.
Any way we have Lumley for another week another player for quite a few of you to have a go at DM with.
