I know the last few years seem like living inside a badly written political comedy, but yesterday, this actually did happen.
The billionaire son of a KGB Colonel, hosted of bunga-bunga parties for Johnson, and donator to the Tory party took his place in the House of Lords.
As Lord Lebedev of Hampton and Siberia in the Russian Federation.
Just in case you've forgotten, that's the Russian Federation that attacked a British city with nerve agent. That has been hacking the US nuclear stockpile. And that is believed by the Intelligence services to have deliberately intervened in our elections. Only we'll never know because Johnson refuses to set up an investigation.
It's been a long descent from the party of the Iron Lady, to the party of spivs.

Is that a Margaret Thatcher, the beacon of morality who:
* blocked the commonwealth move to sanction apartheid South Africa
* was good friends with Pinochet who terrorised his own people in Chile
* used the army against her own people (Miners)
* was involved in erroneously blaming LFC fans for the Hillsborough disaster
* personally intervened in the dodgiest arms deal ever with Saudi Arabia

I don't need any lectures on Thatcher, honestly! My point was that she represented a Tory party that, saw itself as resolutely opposed to enemy states. I don't think there's much argument about that.
We now have a PM that refuses to even investigate enemy state action in the UK, and awards a peerage to Lord Siberia.

I did. It was the worst choice of two potential PMs in my life and I chose the one who I thought was less likely to cause damage to our foreign policy, though it was a close run thing.
You may also recall that I strongly and repeatedly criticised Corbyn's position on Russia. I'm hearing very little from Tory supporters in here criticising Johnson's approach to Russia.

Personally I wouldnt want to be PM any time but least of all now - but that wont stop Gove Raab Sunak and any number of other wannabees

Back on topic with the US still trying to work out how much information has been hacked and how many countries were targeted we invite the son of a KGB agent to vote on laws. It must be difficult for other intelligence partners to work out wtf the govenment is doing.

This could be high farce if it wasn't so serious, people are stopped on the streets and searched for no other reason than the colour of their skins and yet here we have someone with impeccable connections right into the heart of the Kremlin not only welcomed into london society but elevated to the house of lords.
This could well be worse than Burgess, McClean & Co that operated for around 20 years and never proscecuted.
