Title: Musings #18: The Eve of Something Special?
Post by: RoversAlias on December 24, 2020, 02:28:17 pm
Hi folks,

A Christmas editorial for you all to read! I'm trying to get myself in a more festive mood and thankfully Rovers have made it easy for me to at least sound a positive note for the football club during this holiday period like none we've known before. You can check it out at the link below:

Many thanks for reading, as ever. Please let me know your thoughts - how are you feeling about Rovers after this year? Do you think this can end up a special season for us?

Merry Christmas to everyone across the red and white hooped globe!

Thanks again Alias. However, please don't regard my comments as pedantic, which they often are, because the size of our senior squad is something that has concerned me this season, and is something I've wrote about.

Unless Greaves, Horton, Hasani, and Ravenhill are classed as senior players, which I believe aren't, although I could be wrong, then I only make the squad out to be 21, not including of course, Lawlor and Seaman, both out on season loans.

Anything below 25 senior players always seems light to me, especially with the amount of injuries we constantly seem to pick up.

With the salary cap of £2.5m, a squad of 25 senior players would mean an average wage of less than £2k a week per man. You might have the numbers but you’re not going to get the quality for that.
