He did a small gig in Hatfeld Main club 4/5 years ago and has mentioned his support for the miners on a few occasions.

That gig in the Pit Club was with Jacquie Abbott, packed to the rafters it was, lots of Beautiful South songs mixed in with a few newer ones

My mate bumped into him in a pub. He told him how he spent hours in his room listening to Housemartins tracks whilst building model kits as a kid, after his parents had divorced.

Paul shook his hand bought him a pint and they had a long chat. Nice fella.

Have they been back then? Am sure they were there in the last couple of years.

No not been back as such, but Paul Heaton regular keeps in touch with a group of former miners, as does a singer songwriter called Joe Solo

Joe Solo raises crazy sums of money/donations for those in need and never ever takes a penny. He also works as a washing machine engineer and doesn’t get home from fundraising gigs until the early hours and still gets up every day without a moan.
No idea how he keeps it up.
Absolute hero!
