Is there one at 5.30? I'm not knowledgeable with twitter, but there is something about, maybe we should stop teasing and announce at 5.30.Not seen anything about previous as per teasing.
-
Certainly looks like it, certain strawberry blonde winger by any chance
-
Think you might be right Jamesrover fingers crossed.
-
It's going to be Sims.
-
Tissues at hand...
-
Sims it is official now
-
Sims confirmed.
-
Where did my Sims signs thread go from last night?
-
Outrageous signing really given the level of interest in him from the league above :scarf:
-
The question now is, is he fit?
-
Fit by mid February according to Hoden
-
Wow! Now that's a hell of a coup pulling that one off! Well done Gavin, Darren & the board.
-
The question now is, is he fit?
I think he is.
-
Welcome back Josh. Get fit soon, hopefully we'll see you in a couple of weeks.
Great to hear he wanted to come back to the Rovers!
-
DM and The Club have done an amazing job this window when you consider the year we’ve all had. Hats off to them for providing us all with a squad that has an amazing opportunity to progress this season.
-
If we can get another striker in it can't be denied that we've had a good window. Even selling whiteman we on paper have a good replacement.
-
fantastic news!!! Nobody stopping us now!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
-
Somebody really is putting serious money into this club this year,
Well done them. I am full of admiration for their commitment, their generosity, and their perspicacity.

-
Amazing coup! Would asking for 2 strikers be greedy?
-
Josh was very happy with his time here, and wanted to come back, despite other interest...now that speaks volumes about the club and players. Well done all, and not forgetting that as the above, this will not be cheap.

Fit by mid February according to Hoden
His current fitness may well have been a factor in him not going elsewhere, so this has perhaps worked in our favour.

Yes we love signing players we can’t use . I’d love it if one day a player we signed went straight into the first team .

With three league wins on the bounce it would not have been certain that he would have walked straight back into the first team, but it would have been nice to have him on the bench. 2/3 weeks is oK for me and I would rather have him on that basis than not at all

We will have the best midfield in the division by a mile.
-
Well I think Simoes has shown good signs. Each game he has been getting better and last night was probably his best game yet. Definitely becoming more involved and making better decisions with and without the ball. Long may that continue while Josh remains out.
Can't help look forward to those lightning runs of Sims being found with pin point raking passes from Bostock tearing defences apart.
Likewise on the other flank, if Lokilo continues his improvement, then Taylor could be at risk of losing his place.
Guess we'll just have to contain our excitement for that prospect a little while longer but could come at a good time.

Possibly because DM has proven he usually spends it wisely, and gets the best out of them, much less of a gamble than with say DF,Just my opinion,Also seems to have alot of trust and respect in the game and therefore got some great pulling power.I was thinking last night, none of the squad are moaners, dwell on misfortune, they just get on with the job,and have a great attitude to playing for him.
-
Fantstic news to have Josh back,I can see him being important as the games keep coming thick and fast, with us currently have 2/3 games on others around us.Couldbe a much needed boost come Mid February to March with squad rotation etc

After selling Ben aswell, how blessed we are.

Can’t see him in the side before mid February but it’s a great loan signing welcome back

This has to be wind up? We are midway through the most uncertain time in our finances since a bloke thought petrol was a solution and we are able to attract prem quality players in spite of championship interest, and yet based on your comment byoud be happier with a fully fit Lewis guy, than Lionel Messi with a tweaked hamstring . We must be in the best shape we've been for years on and off the pitch and with the pandemic that's nothing short of amazing

Absolutely brilliant.
Considering the financial situation all EFL clubs are in at the moment this is another huge statement of ambition by the Rovers board to get promoted this season to the Championship.
For all those who come on here to slag the club off for lacking ambition.
What you say now. The noise i suspect will be deafening.

It is brilliant news , as there was no one more upset than Josh himself when he became injured . He came to to Rovers for game time and only to for it to stopped as a result of injury , so it’s great news that he’s back.

Somebody really is putting serious money into this club this year,
Well done them. I am full of admiration for their commitment, their generosity, and their perspicacity.

And the truth of it is even more revealing than most supporters would realise.
It's not just having to negotiate hard with Southampton but Gavin has had to do exactly the same thing with Man City for Smith. Although we'd signed a season long loan deal they had the option of renegotiating at the mid point, which is what they did.
Put the two together, plus the Bostock signing, plus A.N. Other and you can see how committed the owners have been!

BobG
Perspicacity? Is that Butch's brother?
-
Well I'm amazed how much business has been done considering the crisis.
Even before this window the club had exceeded my expectations. Even accounting for Ben's fee, the loss of JJ etc., I hoped we might recruit to fill a couple of holes but I didn't expect the calibre of player we've brought in, or back in as the case may be.
This shrewd recruitment and management on and off the pitch deserves to be rewarded.

I’m always impressed and hugely thankful for our board and how they do business. Thanks for the info SM. I’m obviously being naive when I say I thought clubs such as Man City would give us great deals for their loanees. I can’t believe they then want to renegotiate the deal. It may be serious money for us but absolute peanuts for them.
-
Great midfield that - and we also have Gomes to come back in - hopefully soon.

Yes, and you're the Sundance Kid.
Or should that be the Sundance Old Codger?

Last nite, Smith showed for me an incredible level of drive, commitment and desire to run the show. Something I havnt seen before.. He was doing the BW patented pivot on the halF turn, and Quick distribution to a runner. We looked so much more fluid and potent than in previous weeks. He genuinely looked like he could be the quarterback that we need to see this season out.
We know what Sims brings to the party, that's not in doubt. Looks like he wants some silver ware at the end of the season
If bostock is half the player he was rumoured to be as a teenager, we have got some player there..
The Defense is solid, the attack looks a lot more cohesive last nite, so it really looks like it's all coming together.
Bring on Lincoln!!!!
-
Great news to get Simms back. Most other clubs in league one will not be so well supported by their owners in these times of reduced revenues. Our betting odds for promotion etc. now look unusually generous.
-
bas**rd, bas**rd, bas**rd hell fire.
I've got a wedge on us winning the play-offs at 12/1 and this has just ballsed it up.

Enjoys it here, gaffer a big influence on his decision, the lads are a great bunch, out of contract at the end of the season, could promotion seal the deal to a permanent move?

We’ve plenty of them like that,
Like when we won the easiest promotion we’ve ever had after only 39/40 games but the last 5/6 games were poor so that’s what they concentrated on
-
Any player or manager worth their salt would be distraught at throwing that away.
Do you think Clough, Shankley, Alex Ferguson or anyone else would have found that run acceptable?
I bet if Rob Jones had been in the dressing room we wouldn't have folded like that.

Probably because we drop kicked a trophy into next door's garden when we had 9 fingers on it.
-
I think the board are proving what incredibly astute businessmen they are
We are in very safe hands
-
Sims is pure quality, at minimum he is Championship quality.
I don't think I'd swap Darren Moore for any other manager in the country, you know. His influence is massive and he is doing such a great job. Well backed by the owners too, especially in this most testing of seasons financially and operationally.

What on earth were we doing in that league anyway! Had we even won the damn thing it would have been scant reward for the humiliation of dropping to the bottom tier.

There will be a more complicated story I know, but asking for more cash is absolutely shocking given the current financial situation outside the Premier League. Don't bite the hand that feeds and all that but that is genuinely a real shocker. There would have been hope in August that the financial situation would improve and fans be back this season, that is clearly now very unlikely yet despite the financial outlook deteriorating, they want more dollar!
-
The snowball effect, great board + great management that builds great team and the fans are happy. What a great club to belong to.
Thanks to the unpaid toilers within the club.
-
Bloody rubbish Cusack.
That's gone and made me piss myself laughing Mark!!
BobG
-
Well, what can I say. I go ou for the day and come back to the confirmation that JS is actually back with us - tremendous. The second of 3 good signings? We’ll have to see.
Even the possibility of a 4th, if 1 is moved out (on loan, I presume).
Things are starting to look much more positive, especially when you consider Gomes is also back in full training and there’s nothing serious with Lokilo.
Well done everyone.
-
Speaking of loans, Lawlor has played 31 times this season for Oldham and somehow managed only 3 clean sheets of which only one was in the league. Wow.
-
Do you reckon we've got enough good players now to have another side in League 1? DRFC2 I think we could call it. I reckon they'd finish runners up to DRFC too....
Lol!!

We've already got one but they're in League Two. Gave Man City a run for their money last weekend!
-
Actually, there does seem to have a lot more nameas acoss the lower leagues that started out with us, or at least began their league career here. There was at least 3 I can think of now that have scored this last few days.
Is our youth set up delivering now? I think it must be even if the players it producesand we let go are mostly in League 2 at the moment. It's ony a metter of time if progress continues. we had zilch for a decade didnt we? Now there are plenty of our kids playing across the lower leagues. And one just gone to Cardiff as well.

I think it would be stretching things a bit to say Watters was a product of our youth set up.
-
I love our club.
-
Yes, things feel really positive at present don’t they Mark? I was a bit dispirited when Whiteman left, but I’m now feeling more positive than ever. Particularly if we can add a striker, we’ll be in great shape!
-
What terrific news this is!
Huge credit and thanks to DM and the board for making this happen. Sims is top quality and will be a major boost to us when he regains fitness.
Never let it be said that the Club lacks ambition!
-
What has been common to all the recent interviews from Sims, Bostock, Smith and Richards is how much their decision was influenced by the manager. We have a lot to be thankful for right now, but credit where credit’s due, choosing DM as our manager is the best decision the Board have ever made.
Goodness me, I wish we were back to show our appreciation. It’s great watching he lads perform on the TV, but it does not compare to being there and showing our pride for everyone at the Club.
-
I think the thing is we have not only signed good players we have signed good players who want to be here and slot in, I think this vindicates the way DM holds out for the right player, something he took a lot of stick for previously.
Thanks EVERYONE at Rovers

That was a shambles Dickov. You seem to be the only person who was not furious about our disintegration over those last 5 games.
As someone said if Rob Jones had been with us then it would never have been allowed to happen.
We literally threw the winners trophy from the Keepmoat to Fratton Park.

-
I can’t find the thread at the time of Sims’ injury but this is exactly what I said I hoped could happen.. do I win £5.?
I haven’t checked but we must have the best part of 20-22 fixtures left to play by the time he should be ready, so we should hopefully get our moneys worth.
A really great signing and I agree, potential to re-sign should we go up this season.

I think we were all a bit bemused to hear DF sanctioned a promotion party for the players with 5 or 6 games left. We all know what happened and you wonder whether this was the wrong thing to do given the title was yet to be won. I'm sure his father wouldn't have approved.
Anyway, that's in the past. Very much 'game on' for the second half of the season and let's hope DM is presented with the same dilemma.
