I should add that the coppers in the garden were nothing to do with me and I was only alerted to them being there after my infra red security gate was activated

Just been looking at last nights camera footage of my back garden. Nothing unusual to report. The burglaries are at an all-time low since Scawsby folk have been in lockdown.

There is a device available online called guardian. It looks like a pir light but it has a very good covert pinhole had camera fitted to it. It’s battery op and has a SIM card in it that record thousands of images every time the pir is activated.
Every time someone comes near it takes a pic so the postman , visitors etc get snapped with date time group etc.

I’ve detected quite a few burglaries where people have these fitted. About £80 I think.

Hi NR - Detected as in you are a Policeman ?

Whether yes or no I think you maybe mean the one below ?

My only reservation with these and in fact most CCTV Cameras is that I imagine the potential burglar can sneak up out of camera view and drop a bag over them or point them upwards with a brush or something else

I have a bungalow and was wanting some but have nowhere to get the Cameras to watch over everything where they cant be deflected by sticks etc. I need ones enclosed in glass bowls

We encourage exotic local wildlife in Bentley, they keep the Ravens down.

The beauty of them is they look nothing like a camera. Totally covert and they don’t have a power supply that can be cut. The image quality is superb and they run IR too at night.

Hidden cameras have their advantages but the deterrent aspect is lost. It's a bit like having a hidden burglar alarm.

One of the big problems though NR is that you only record pictures of people with hoods up and masks on, more often than not.

The average toe rag is so wise to this though. Wiser than we usually give them credit for. A lot of burglaries start with power being cut these days for that very reason. And if they can’t cut power they cover up the cameras if they can  get to them.

It’s a fair point. I have mixed experience of this. You’d be surprised how brash some crooks are if they think they aren’t being watched though.

The present situation of mask-wearing being the norm will obviously be playing right into the scumbags filthy hands. Perhaps having both visible and hidden cameras would have the optimum effect.

In actual fact, acquisitive crime such as shop theft and burglary is down overall due to many staying at home. It is in our area anyway.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all NR.
