Rovers about to announce another new signing
-
It's to bolster the squad and give DM the backing.
-
Scottish too by the clue on twitter
-
Darren's definitely been backed, well done all concerned
-
Scott Robertson announced this morning. Good enough for me this week gets better...now just need 3 points today for perfection. Kept this signing very quiet steady player...love it! Highly thought of in scotland
-
Eligible today!

Scott Robertson. Loan from Celtic. Midfielder. Was on loan first half of the season at Gillingham.
-
Scott Robertson, Celtic central midfielder who was on a season long loan at Gillingham and recalled a couple of weeks ago. 15 appearances for the Gills.
-
The bench has just got very strong all of a sudden, madger is back as well according to DM, aside from copps.. Are we fully fit again?
-
7 loans now, ok JJ missing for at least 2 months so it will be interesting it says he’s a defensive midfield so will share the workload with Matt Smith.
-
After this transfer window (even with Whiteman leaving) I’m convinced it’s going to happen.
We are going up....

Tuesday night was where it all came together, matt smith took charge of the middle and stepped out of the shadow of BW, he's gonna be such an important player for us as the season goes on.

Isn't Sims a couple of weeks away from match readiness?

But never played against us on 12th Dec.
-
A quick look on the Gill's Fans Forum and most wanted him to stay , but there seems to be a question mark about his fitness.

He starts back with us on Monday so it could be two weeks, when he’s ready DM will have 6 outfield loans to juggle to make 5 for match days.
-
Seen quite a bit of him this season. He’s not stood out, but being a midfielder in a Fatty Evans team isn’t ideal. Defensively minded, Celtic must have though that he could benefit more by being here than at Gills, hence the recall.

Obviously it’s a problem that’s a few weeks/months away with Sims and John-Jules not fit but with Balcombe, Sims, Richards and probably Smith stitched on for the match day squad there will only be room for one of Robertson, Simoes & John-Jules. There’s a chance that Robertson or Simoes does really well and proves themselves in that time as well - will be a headache picking the squad (but a nice headache to have!)

a small write up and Gill's fans reactions.

Probably fit better in to our team than Gillingham's.
-
Bloody eck! This is getting silly now. And on a Saturday??? How are we supposed to keep up!
We must have got hold of a batch of biros!
All welcome to give DM the armoury to sustain our challenge. Perhaps maybe not so good from AJ Greaves perspective however, who knows what's in DM thoughts!
I've felt this season, due to the fixture list and available players DMs had to carefully manage our way through games without taking many risks and rotating very successfully.
Perhaps now, he can let them off the leash and truly go for it. Play with freedom and give it everything from the off in the knowledge there's an able replacement chomping at the bit to get on the pitch.
Strap in and enjoy the ride!
-
Some serious depth to the squad now. If we have 3/4 injuries or suspensions then we will be able to cope and still have a decent bench
If the whole squad was available for selection then DM has some difficult decisions
It is very rare though that no one is injured.
Some serious intent to get promoted this season. Very well done to the board for backing DM at this juncture with the financial situation as it is.
Beat Lincoln today and we will all be talking as though we are promoted already.
Feet on the floor time whatever the result today. Still another 24 games to play.
Not half way yet which seems strange at the end of January. Well it is strange.
-
What is really doing my nut in .. is we seem to have one of the best squads in L1 as well as well as getting the results to show how good they are , yet we can’t watch them in person AND show how much we appreciate everyone’s achievements this far . RTiD !! :crying:

I suspect we had to pay Whiteman a lot more to get him to sign the new deal last year. Getting his wage off the books likely financed a lot of the loans.
-
He's been on our radar for a while. He was the one that was a definite if Bostock didn't sign, but pleased that the club decided on getting them both.

The Whiteman deal shows how savvy the board can be at times. We knew he wanted to leave and yet they arrange a long term deal with him so that it would help in any negotiations, which it did.
Its partly his wages CBcb, but also the money from his transfer. Don't forget the salary cap kicks in, making it harder to keep paying players more.

Will probably enjoy playing more for DM than he did for Evans. Also will develop and improve as a player under DM. Would he under Evans?

We'll just have to go up then, where the salary cap is a little bit more "relaxed".
:-)

We've gone from having to play James and Halliday at CM to now having Smith, Gomes, Bostock, Greaves and Robertson for those two spots. James and Richards as options too.
-
This was a signing more than I thought we would do this transfer window.
Is the prospect of signing the man from Coventry now dead?

I’d say so mate

Yes, it was either Bogle or him, and Bogle was the 1st choice.
-
Will we throw a sneakie one in before 11 o'clock Monday night just asking for a friend
-
Simoes will be one that drops out or even goes back when everyone is fit unless he shows more than he has done so far
-
Phew - who would be a Manager lol
-
Can’t wait for next Saturday when all the new guys will be ready for selection.
Well done Board, Gavin, DM and Adam Henshall
And a thanks to SM for keeping us informed and grounded.

He can't go back until the summer now.

Yes, I'd like to echo that too. Trying to manage fans expectations in the face of adversity is no easy task. I think the vast majority of fans trust the board but sometimes it's must be hard not to lose sight of that when the noisy minority take to social mediums to vent their spleen. It never ceases to amaze me how some people continue to meddle in things they can know very little about.
Our board have continued to 'back the manager' of the day through several transfer windows and particularly recently we have seen quality players Inc those with raw potential beyond what many of us expected. The board need to be applauded for keeping us competitive in these exceptionally difficult times.
-
Same from me, DBR. Nobody has banged the ‘back the manager’ drum more than me, so it’s with huge relief and no little excitement that we have, at last, done exactly that. 6 signings in January is it? Unheard of!
The capture of Bostock was a game changer, for me, and then we topped that with Sims. Then, just as the dust was settling, up pops Bogle. I hadn’t even realised we’d signed the Celtic lad until my brother-in-law sent me a text this morning! Not expecting it at all, my reply to him was ‘WHY?’
-
Delighted with the signings this month and well done to all concerned in getting them here. Don't take this to be in any way negative but what message does this send to the likes of AJ Greaves?
-
Win today, Hull & Peterborough lose, a massive covid outbreak prevents season being completed, DRFC are crowned League One Champions. Happy Saturday.
-
I bet superfan Scott Robertson from Armthorpe is glad we've signed Scott Robertson!
-
SM just two words to say to Gavin and the rest of the board
THANK YOU
-

Competition for places. With the fixtures we’ve got coming up, everyone will get their chance.

AJ can either take this and turn it into a positive and work even harder than he is doing or he can go under and be the next Alfie Beestin. Football is 50% talent 50% mentality and if he doesnt have the latter he will be on his way and rightly so. Hes got a lot to improve on to be a regular for me.

I was gonna say, when I saw this news I thought I hope he’s improved his fitness levels. Last time I saw Scott Robertson he’d had about 10 pints on a London away day!

Alfie Beestin is doing great at the moment. Scored a belter last night.

Depends on your perception of "great". I wouldnt call playing at the bottom end of League 2 doing great. No disrespect but he has so much ability and hes not lived up to expection at the minute.

I was thinking that Simoes had improved game on game.
He looked very lively against Wimbledon.
-
Is it one too many? we've gone from a team full of defenders, to a team full of midfielders - makes you wonder how much DM will rotate. A great position to be in, along as it does not lead to tinkering for tinkerings sake.
One in the eye for the doom merchants, and board bashers.
:rtid:

I like him hound. Think there is more to come from him of course.
There are some who expect players to produce excellence from day one. It takes time usually for any new player to bed in at a new club. Also he hasn’t had much game time at Barnsley this season.
He has skill and pace and the longer DM works with him the better he is going to get.

The way games are coming at us it gives opportunity to rotate the squad a bit
Great backing from the board thank you
