What a performance when he came on, he’s some player
-
That was a very good cameo.
-
Brilliant return from him - so positive and another reason to feel good about our teams progression
-
The right change as well by DM. Brilliant.
-
Not sure who would make way but when he is fit he showed in his comeback today you have to play him.
-
I just wrote on another thread about how good Madger was.
It’s like having a new signing with him back too.
-
Good performance when he came on in fact Taylor Richards and Madger Gomes play that position well and with the games we got they both get good game time on or off the bench.
-
I would put Madger in over Simoes.
-
Agree Madger was good and provided just what we needed and I think DM held back put him in on too early to make sure he could get through the game. OK.
I don't think Simoes did a lot wrong today, just one bad decision when getting the ball in space, and wasted the break. But he worked hard and defended well, getting back into position behind the ball.
Let's hope Madger can reproduce some of his early form and if he can blend well with Richards and Smith, Bostock may find it difficult to get a start.

all day long

Madger looks like he has the potential to step up at least one level, he's come such a long way in a short time. I don't know his contract details, but I would be looking to extend - he is the clubs jewel.

He’s got competition now for his place !!
-
Special players like Madger just seem to be able to make time for themselves with the ball, and they look un -hurried, and Madger looks like he's floating round the pitch in as much space as he can make. He's looking very strong when challenged now, whereas earlier in his time here, he was easily brushed aside. Along with Brad, 2 of our most improved players. Great to have you back Madge!
-
he was
very very good when he came on.
-
He won't get in ahead of anyone at the min especially in centre midfield. Good bench player for me to have
-
Wouldn't he get in centre mid ahead of James? for me he'd start. Potentially our best midfield is Richards, Bostock (if he lives up to the hype) and Gomes. 3 left footers which is very rare!
Smith is a really good player too and i can't really comment on the new signing. Feel a bit sorry for AJ he's probably not going to get a much game time as he'd have hoped now.
-
Smith should be first CM name on team sheet then take your pick from there.
-
It's not necessarily about the individuals but the blend.
Couple of games ago Smith was struggling but showed his quality on Tuesday so nobody's infallible.
I'm sure DM will be looking at different combos including the new faces of Bostock and Robertson.

We are now in a position where we can utilise a very talented side & use different type players for different types of opponents. I believe the whole squad will be used until the end of the season & AJ will have his part to play.

After yesterday, I think all 11 deserve a week off.
Talk about being in the trenches! But, Madger was a shining light when he came on and relieved a lot of pressure. You could see the Lincoln players thinking ‘thank God they’ve taken him off’, only then had the rude awakening to find Madger was just as difficult to play against!
Some juggling job DM has now and keeping the momentum going. Bringing Bostock, Robertson and Gomes into the front line isn’t going to be easy. As I’ve said elsewhere, this full week of training will be a blessing.
-
The options we'll have in a few weeks time is frightening which makes it all the more impressive that we've won so many matches with a patched-up team! The play-offs now would be a big disappointment and we're not yet halfway through he season!
-
It's good that we have so many strong options now as we know DM likes to rotate players regardless of how well they play in any given match. Very few players are nailed on to be in the starting line up evey week beyond the keepers and centre backs.
A couple of months ago people would get nervous on here when players and positions were swapped about but I think many in here, myself included, are at a point where the team sheet is now a fun surprise before the match but we trust the outcome. Long may it continue, it certainly isn't boring.
-
Smith is a very good player and plays well for 90 mins. He would always be first midfield name on my team sheet.
-
Very good point that. I tend to look at the back four first, then after that I'm not too bothered really.
Not too long ago playing 4 players who are centre halves by trade across the back four, we would have had kittens.
V Wimbledon the other night with James' chance late on. In the final 3rd No 5, jinks passed 2 defenders, had the option of laying off to No 2, but slides a lovely weighted pass to No 3 who made a run past the last man into the box and was unlucky not to finish.
When you look at the numbers on the shirts you realise how far these players have come under DM.
-
Madger yesterday for me looked like an impressive new signing, DM has bided his time. Not rushed him, and boy did he look fit and ready..
-
To be fair, Gomes came on stronger through last season, particularly at Sunderland, and also started well this term. He’s scored a few too, and I am delighted he is back playing again..
-
I hope and am beginning to think it probable that Darren will bring about as much progress in Simoes and Lokilo as he has done with Madger .He seems to have made Gomes into a future Rovers star player .
-
I suspect that he will be making appearances from the bench for a short while, they don't want to risk aggravating the injury again, and at least now we know we do have cover for him with the new signings and AJ Greaves on top. Good luck to the lad, he is another cracker in our box.

DBR, I remember not too long ago, our then number five used to score plenty of goals, most of them from inside six yards with the occasional long range effort.
