Title: Sunderland takeover
Post by: ravenrover on February 18, 2021, 09:26:42 pm
Surprised no ones mentioned this

French billionaire-heir Kyril Louis-Dreyfus secures majority shareholding in Sunderland after EFL approval; Stewart Donald, Juan Sartori and Charlie Methven retain minority shareholding; Sunderland currently seventh in League One, one point off the play-off places

He is 23 years old so despite the money it looks like a rich boy’s plaything. I would say he cannot be any worse than their previous owners, but then again, they’ve said that before.

The small chance that this guy does make a success of this aside, this is an exceptionally good season for us to be challenging as probably the three biggest clubs in this league - Sunderland, Ipswich and Charlton - are all in a real mess and massively underperforming. That will not always be the case so we have to take advantage of this window while we can.

He is much richer than anyone before in ownership there and will invest because like it or not there is tremendous community support from fans and a good existing infrastructure of stadium and training facilities .

Just because they're rich, doesn't mean they're spending their own money. Look at the Glazers and many others, making money from other people's money!

It’s not really going to make much difference this season given the fact that the window is closed, maybe a boost for the club as a whole given the mood has been so low for the past couple of years. If they don’t make it up this year, though, I imagine they’ll be going all out for it next year.

He's majority shareholder now, Stewart Donald is still around in the background no doubt hanging on to the chance he can make some money off this.

Going for a data driven approach under the new owner .

Plenty of clubs on this strategy now , we've used it since 2015 and Brentford are probably the most successful club using it .

At least it's a plan and a strategy rather than the shyte show they've put their fans through for the last few years .

Someone needs to tell the fans up there that this strategy is very much a long term thing and won't necessarily produce success overnight .

Sunderland fans and patience stuck in league one owned by a billionaire may not run so smooth if instant success isn't forthcoming .
