Jim Steinman.
I never did get the Meatloaf thing. Way too sniggeringly American teenager.
But his production of Floodland by The Sisters of Mercy made one of the most ridiculously magnificent rock albums of all time.
Andrew Eldritch of TSOM said of the operatic production of This Corrosion, "We think it's the maddest thing we've ever heard. Jim just thinks it's normal. He doesn't understand why everybody doesn't make songs like that."
Steinman once said he always went over the top to see what was on the other side. Superb philosophy for rock music and for life.

Who ever heard of a piano introduction that long to what turned out to be an Amercan classic. Have to say my favourite on the Bat out of Hell album is Paradise by the dashboard light loved the live version on Whistle Test all those years ago

Watched Meatloaf perform it live, along with all the others from the album back in the 80’s at the NEC, awesome show
