Just watching her show.
She probably is the authentic voice of working class Britain right now. What she does, she does very well.
I'm a fan of Amy Winehouse, more clued up with a greater grasp of music culture.
But Adele, she's pretty good.
-
Yes she's so good that I had the unfortunate experience of hearing her 1st 2 or 3 songs at Glastonbury before being able to fall asleep in my tent
-
I actually do think that she is great but is starting to get a bit up herself, she should stick with what got her to where she is now.
-
Awful, predictable, manufactured dirge. But if you like her then that's all that matters.
-
Music by numbers. Teenage angst for grown ups. Music to chop vegetables to on a Sunday lunchtime.
No, just no.
-
She is a miserable potty mouthed bag.
Like she is the only person who has gone through a break up.
-
Ex fatty….. can only sing “ radio music” ….. id line each and every Adele contribution against Swansway’s Soul Train ……. We made the classics…. not the under 30s
-
I bought Mrs RD tickets to see her at Wembley. She cancelled on the day with promises of rebooking/priority if/when she puts on a concert again - never heard anything since
-
I find all her music sounds exactly the same. I think she has a very unique voice but she is so monotonous.
Give me grassroots music in a small venue any day of the week
-
Adele can only dream of being as good as Alison Moyet.
-
I thought Adele was a crap computer. :silly:

‘Manufactured dirge’!
Name me one current female singer/songwriter that’s on a par.
Oh, oh, wait a minute you can’t without dredging up female artists from 20 years ago.
Welcome to the 21st century cowboy.

That doesn’t win the argument…..
Just reinforces the fact that if Adele is the best of the current crop then they are all worse than manufactured dirge…

I’m sure your comments weren’t intended to insult ‘larger ladies’ with your clumsy ‘Ex fatty’ remark….then again, it’s sometimes difficult to see the light with your head stuck up your own arse.
That one’s for all you ‘fat bottomed girls’ out there. Where would we be without you x

Still not answered the question ‘Destri’.
Give us your pick of the crop.

And there was me thinking me and thee were in different universes.

To me they're all on a par...in one ear and out of the other without making a mark, instantly forgettable - and that's if you notice them in the first place. Identikit songs that all sound the same, sung the same way, and nothing to make any of them stand out at all.

Wasn’t clumsy, and was aimed at her alone…
Ah right.
So if you make a slur at an individual you reckon that doesn’t put you in the same category as those who also just pick on an individual on social media? And there are plenty of cases of people taking their own lives as a result.
‘Fatty, skinny, spotty, goofy, lanky’ they’re all nasty slurs intent on being hurtful to the individual they’re used against whether directly or indirectly.
And putting ‘Ex’ in front of a slur doesn’t make it any less a slur.
I thought I’d offer you the benefit of doubt by calling your post clumsy but given the fact that you sought to justify your tasteless comment by stating ‘….was aimed at her alone.’ clearly shows what a bigot you are.
And here’s a tip for you, when you hit rock, stop digging.
-
I can’t bear to listen to her. The way she completely changes the pronunciation of words to make them ‘fit’ is cringeworthy.
I will never understand her popularity.
-
She's OK. A bit of a one-trick pony who has been selected by the media to be adored by the public, but she's OK.

I don’t hit rock, !
but I guess I am a bigot, I’m also a few “ ists” too……there are lots of things I dislike and feel no need to curtail my ways because it may offend …..
When I see 22 women on a football pitch and 10 sat in the dugouts I’m wondering who’s putting t’ kettle on at hom……..

Listening to YouTube through a media device is probably not as good as the self same song played on a turntable through a decent amp , phono preamp and speakers….
Good to know you once had taste tho!

Colin, it's Karen Carpenter, and you're right, she did write her own music, along with her brother, and her voice was fantastic.
The other female singer I really rated from my era was Mama Cass Elliot.
Now I doubt that you'll be aware of how they both died at an early age, but I've always thought that if Karen Carpenter had eaten Mama Cass's ham sandwich, they'd both still be alive.

Though I don’t particularly enjoy female vocals I do rate the following artists
Beth Hart
Sade
Sian Evans ( Kosheen)
Judie Tzuke
Hannah Reid ( London Grammar)
and a bit of Kate Bush
All very different in tempo and tone, unlike the microwave meals vocals we get today abusing auto-adjust ………

Not been on here for a few days. Been busy. But had to today because of the big news. So did not see this thread. Adele is perfect. So talented. My Mrs even knows I kind of like her. If you get what I mean !.

Adele is not my cup of tea, I couldn't name one song of hers' (or Taylor Swift) but its difficult to argue they aren't both good singers of the material they produce.
-
I may be wrong but I thought that Richard Carpenter wrote the songs and Karen was mainly an exceptional vocalist and also a drummer
-
Karen Carpenter had the most beautiful voice.
As someone who has a little inkling about music production I’ve often wondered how much compression or treatment her raw vocal had when being recorded, as to me it seems it didn’t need any.
-
Miles Davis int bad
-
BB and Wolfie keep telling me how good Gracie Fields was.
-
Wolfie tried to get off with her once but was accused of cradle snatching.

Going off track a little bit IMHO the best female singer is Elizabeth Fraser..

There are none on a par as she's the biggest artist in the world. There are some who are better in terms of what they do though.
I'd rather listen to Billie Eilish or CHVRCHES

Or Sonic Youth for that matter (probably breaks the 20 year rule but still sounds ace)

People of Las Vegas breathe a sigh of relief.
The potty mouthed miserable bag has had to postpone her shows, as it is “not ready” yet.
She is crying in her public announcement no doubt due to the fact that she was to pocket 1/2 million per show.

She has history with it, got my Mrs tickets for Wembley a few years ago (unfortunately I was tagging along too). Adele cancelled it the day of the concert. Loads of promises to rearrange for her adoring fans etc. (Fortunately) still nothing.

Tickets cost between $85 and $800

Ah diddums. Poor adele. Let's all feel sorry for her when there are people out there who can't afford to f**king eat or heat their houses. Poor Adele. She's having a hard time at the moment and i feel soooooooooooo sorry for the poor thing.
