Title: The "early rise" and "decaying" results of Wimbledon
Post by: Colemans Left Hook on January 19, 2022, 11:55:50 pm
as they said at the start of the season sold the family silver (bet it was Sheffield silver plate),  no money play the kids and somehow they got  12 points from 7 games to go 4th

we were 11 points behind them with a game in hand

since then their theme tune has been a status quo song ...  down..... down.... deeper and down

And we have to go there soon

they managed a draw away today after leading

and play at home to Ipswich on Tuesday

Ipswich came from behind to beat Accrington today and  Wycombe    MK   Plymouth & Wendies (all 4) LOST  ABOVE THEM

like the parting of the red sea -- so at last they can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel ??

they really have got a big incentive to beat Wimbledon .........

and get them in our sights.
as the above poster says we have to "do " them away like we did their "hybrid variant" today

the decay (rot) continues  ..... that'll do nicely

next is saturday AFC Wimbledon 15:00 v Shrewsbury Town

then tuesday AFC Wimbledon 19:45 v Cheltenham Town

Charlton Athletic 15:00  vAFC Wimbledon

tuesday AFC Wimbledon 19:45 Rotherham United

they have just lost at home now somehow without checking they have 3 out of 4 matches at home  ..  must have had their home games postponed !!

looking at the table morecambe have played 15 at home and only 12 away so with us "collecting 3 points at Wimbledon"  they are  easily passable (famous last words)

and wimbledon have just sold a bit more silver plate

he scored tonight for Wrexham

Palmers dad used to be Prince Charles bodyguard ..( not a lot of people know that) now they have got shot of him  :suicide:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60116733

Wrexham have broken their transfer record to sign striker Ollie Palmer from League One AFC Wimbledon.

Palmer drops down into the National League with the ambitious Welsh club having paid £300,000 for the 30-year-old.

It is the biggest transfer fee Wrexham have paid out under the ownership of Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

It also surpasses the £210,000 paid to Liverpool for Joey Jones in 1978.

Palmer, who has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at the Racecourse played and scored for Wimbledon in their 1-1 draw with Burton at the weekend, taking his tally to eight for the season

so wimbledon got a point on Saturday   they had 5 yellow cards one turning into a red and
Sunderland managed 7 yellow cards

Last night Bolton conceeded 3 groundhog goals in the first half from high balls on the left so they should be up for it hopefully on Saturday.

Our form is very poor but AFC Wimbledon are dreadful. They haven’t won in 14 league games back to a 2-0 win away at Accrington on 7 December. They haven’t won a home game since 24 November and that was a scraped 3-2 win against Crewe. Losing there next week would be a disaster in many respects.

So they’re overdue a home win. Hmmm.

This "Nostradamuseque " thread is still on target ( by the skin of it's teeth -- Wombles hit the cross bar in the last minute with an overhead kick)   we got a perfect set of results on Tuesday.

Can Wimbledon now be putin their place as the Rovers fans invade SW18    at least we won't use aerial bombardment techniques

Hopefully if we win ... that London phrase  "Mind The Gap"   will not have the present "double meaning" and we are on the "right track" to survive  :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

so that's a silver bullet dodged and their "consistency" continues relentlessly .

their next two matches are Wigan away on Saturday (Wigan play Fleetwood at home this Tuesday)
and Plymouth away on the following Tuesday.
Then Lincoln home on the Saturday

they cross the River Plym on Tuesday

got very worried when it was only 1-0 at Wigan and it went into injury time but onwards and downwards they go

Really concerned about Fleetwood winning at Burton next Saturday.
Burton have hit the rocks recently.
If they do and we fail to win there the week after then we may be relying on Wimbledon failing to pick up points.
Along with finishing higher than Gills and Morecambe of course.

We simply cannot afford not to win next Saturday.

The phrase "you have reached your destination" meaning finally entered the bottom four comes to mind - but have they REALLY bought a one way ticket - or is it just a cheap day return   (meaning will they win on Saturday ?)  :crying:

once again a "rabble " team snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

well that was a surprise Wimbledon losing and I mean that - I thought that finally they might get ahead  and not "let the dog off the lead"

The accrington game was sickener -- before the  match it was announced that a 19 year old goalkeeper would make his debut for 'Cringe  and memories of that goalie making his debut for us against his former team surfaced pre- match

and yes i was right --- see the second goal  (was that Jones in disguise ?)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wu0X7HXL18

so they move on to Wednesday  norfolk in chance of a win just like we didnt at Sunderland & MK Dons

who knows what will happen

Try Diazepam, Camps. It's what I usually take after reading one of CLH's posts.

they seem to have been very unlucky today under a new manager.

"The away side responded well to going behind and found an equaliser after 22 minutes.

Zach Robinson beat the offside trap and squared to Ayoub Assal, who smashed the ball into the top corner past keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Wimbledon made it difficult for the home side for the remainder of the half and went into the break deservedly level.

Assal could have snatched a winner for the Dons with 10 minutes to play but Peacock-Farrell came out on top in the one-on-one.

Just as Wimbledon thought they had done enough to claim a vital point, two minutes into added time Gregory headed in to send the home faithful wild.

Wednesday moved into fifth place as a result while Wimbledon are now four points adrift of safety."

this thread has been going for 3 months and they still haven't won a game

Wimbledon  snatched defeat from the jaws of victory today  - they didn't even lose by the odd goal - sacking the Crewe new manager  worked  in the end as we hoped, but it did us no good in the real world.

so they have 3 games to go to try and win one in a row

AFC Wimbledon v Wycombe Wanderers

Fleetwood Town v AFC Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon v Accrington Stanley

that's their 18th draw and we crawled to 7 draws today.

Apparently dogs are banned in WIMBLEDON because they can't keep a lead

thankfully only 2 more matches to go on this now pointless thread

thank goodness they only have one more match to play

just imagine if the had a P & O Competition like us   we would have had everybody sussing them out and going for a draw every week   14 home draws and 5 away making 19 out of 45

Gillingham and Fleetwood have only drawn 16 each but Fleetwood have 2 more chances to draw one tomorrow against Wendies

I think Wimbledooms last win was on December 7th  2-0 at home against Accrington

they have only had Nine  1-1 draws  and 4 out of those have been in the last five matches --

With some justification AFC Wimbledon finish below us. They haven’t won a game in any competition since 7 December.

I forgot to congratulate them on finally winning one match in a row

at least now we can't have the dubious honour of breaking their hoodoo for them

when i started this thread they were 12/1 for relegation from memory

never thought they would slip slide away to that extent
