Post by: Scooter on February 03, 2022, 03:41:39 pm
I’ve just booked tickets for the Portsmouth game and I’m taking my 8 and 11 year old boys. I’ve booked a hotel for the night and wondered if anyone has any advice of what we can do in the evening. I’m never been before so open to ideas of what to do or what to go and look at

Maybe find a reputable psychiatrist?

Only kidding. No suggestions but hope you all have a great time away. Long way is Pompey so fair play to you and yours.  :scarf:

Thanks. I’m steadily trying to do the 92 just watching rovers. I figure that if we get relegated we might not play Portsmouth for a while so I’m going to tick it off the list

You can't go wrong with gunwharf quay, bowling alley, cinema, Spinaker tower and some lovely views across to the isle of wight. You're close to the Naval Dockyard there, which is also well worth a trip.

In a similar vein, last time we were down there a few years ago (albeit not in February, admittedly) we did a boat trip round the harbour. Considerably more interesting than round Scarborough/Brid etc. given the large RN presence in Portsmouth.

wasn't there a recent bond movie where they suggested there was a submarine out of the water for the public to go on, it was meant to be in London, but in reality it's in Portsmouth?

You might want to take some feathers to go with the tar.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I’ll see what mood we are all in after the game. That might dictate what we do

Yes do make time to go to the Naval Dockyard, The Victory, Mary Rose and whatever naval ships are in port at the time, such an impressive and historic place, if not Sat night then Sunday morning. Gunwharf Quay complex is next door.

Portsmouth just had Morrell sent off after 17 minutes straight red so he'll miss our game. Got to take any positives we can get i guess.
