Just thought I would point out a few things that you don't get in brief Sky highlights, or might not have seen pointed out on social media.
- Matt Smith put in such a grafting performance. He and Rowe made a huge difference as the central midfield pairing, harrying Sunderland and finding space on the ball, making key passes forward when needed to. Best I personally have seen Smudge play for us.
- Jonathan Mitchell did brilliantly throughout. The goal felt somewhat inevitable at that point in the game and I think he was unlucky with it, but he made some superb saves, his kicking was excellent and he was very communicative. The way he would catch the ball and go down like Sully used to was very well done, he managed the game and the situation really, really well.
- Defensively everyone stood up, even if the lack of quality showed at times. Williams just played no-nonsense, got it away, and Olowu was calmer on the ball than we've maybe seen recently.
- Reo Griffiths looks a hell of a player. Physicality, quality on the ball, makes the right type of runs.
- Frank Sinclair is an absolute don.
Enjoy the win folks - I know I certainly will going to work in the North East tomorrow morning :scarf:

Agree with all that but you didn't mention Martin's who was my joint man of match with smith , I think Martin's edged it , and Rowe put in a great shift too.
-
Matt Smith was quality once again, just gets better every game I see him. Can’t believe some ppl still don’t rate him and imo he’s much better than Galbraith (especially over the last few months).

Totally agree BobG! :silly:

Hi Lincs. I can't get your link to work. Probably my lack of technical expertise, but it could be something trans Atlantic.
Any chance of trying again please. Or pointing me to the thread you refer to?
Muchas gracias!

It’s taken 30 games before the Rovers we love to watch finally turned up after all Ifs , buts, maybes and could haves …we finally we did !! :-)

Sorry it’s not a link BobG, I just made a witty (well I thought it was) retort to your blank message. No offence intended, just a bit of harmless fun that made me smile on a good day for rovers :woot:

Backed them to beat Rotherham 2-0 at 95/1
Today looked and it was 195/1, did a have a couple of quid on in…. No !!!!
Never did I expect that performance after Tuesday.
-
Thanks for the insights. Much appreciated if you can’t make it.
-
Oh!!!
Ha ha ha! I had no idea I had done that. In fact it's supposed to be impossible surely?
Having understood the context, yes. Yours is very funny!
Cheers!

It’s been happening since before today. A good rovers team turned up at Cambridge, and MK dons. Today’s result is a progression. A turning of the tide.I expect this will continue on Tuesday night .

Next step a run of wins
-
Massive confidence boost going there today and doing that. We should fear nobody.
-
Matt Smith not only works very hard and never stops but he is so determined in the tackle and when shielding the ball despite his slight frame .He exudes the sort of determination on the field that is an example to teammates and will always be a fans’s favourite wherever he goes .He was immense yesterday.Martin too was clever in choosing when to release the pass over the top for our new front runners .Mitchell was not the same keeper that made his debut on Tuesday surely !
-
Both goals were belter finishes but Reo’s was very very encouraging!
Matt Smith started the season poorly but has grown into the season so much that he’s overtaken Galbraith imo. It’s a shame if we can’t keep him next season (and beyond)! I’m not sure if he’s since signed a new deal but I thought when we got him his deal expired at the end of this season??
If it does and he’s willing, get a 3 year deal on the table the first day we can! He’ll 100% have other interest and it’ll be tough to compete but sort him a good deal and make him know how important we view him, what we can do for his career progression etc.
Many youngsters now are putting development and game time above salary, knowing in the long run they can be much, much better off for it. Hopefully we can take advantage of that here.
-
I agree we would be silly not to make him and Arsenal an offer .He will continue to develop into a midfield general as he gains experience .
-
Yeah, I think Smith is the only realistic one we could get permanently and based on his performances under McSheffrey I'd take him.

Finally recovered from Covid.
Now seeing the players that Wellens knew he was signing.
-
Has been excellent since GMc took over, we didn’t even notice Galbraith was missing yesterday
-
Smith was very good yesterday , Gary Mc has done well will the players he has brought in ,which in turn brings a different mentally and in turn gives the player a believe they can win and gives them a positive mental attitude to succeed

Talking of yesterday, there were things as a club we can learn from the set up yesterday.
The barcode reader absolutely spot on and didn’t need an operator to scan it
The service at the kiosks again top notch and quick.
Anyone notice the peregrine falcon in the rafters to the left of the stand

We had a Bird of Prey along time before them at old BV, It’s no longer fashionable :)

Given that most of the time we only have one turnstile open in the West Stand, surely it would be cheaper to install a barcode reader in the long run?

I am sure many of us remember the owl.
