His reading of the game today on commentary was absolutely f**king beautiful. A joy to hear how he saw the game, how he knew what changes needed to made, how he praised the players when they did good things.

There was a game during lockdown when he assisted on commentary and it was astonishing how he knew what was going to happen next most of the time and was a revelation to listen to.

Love the man, and love him on commentary. He brings an extra dimension to the game that’s a pleasure to listen to.
I’ve had a few chats with Copps over the years and his insight is phenomenal. It’s what set him apart as a player. That anticipation and ability to read situations. It’s a sixth sense.

It’s because he’s one of those few players, that when he was on the pitch he understood that certain moves led to certain situations. He could see the bigger picture. He was like a snooker player, in that he was playing for a few moves ahead. He was in another time zone from some players, who maybe were not as game intelligent as he was.
I think he would make a very good manager, I don’t know him personally to know if he could make the big decisions, if he could make a decision to benefit the group rather than individuals, could he be hard nosed?. He never seemed a selfish player, he represented the club in as good a manner as you could.

I have said it before and its worth saying again.
I play golf with a retired player for Luton Town. He was telling me about the last time he played at the KM against Copps. Luton's managers pre game talk was all about the importance of stopping Copps from playing.
Thats how much respect Luton payed him,
Respect Copps Respect.

Sammy I think he has potentially decided that management isn’t for him and the role he’s doing now has more longevity
GMc said before his appointment that the juniors job was more stable as managers are always getting sacked
Copps would be a good man manager I think after reading his book and would be understanding of players losing form and confidence

What do you expect, he’s an intelligent very likeable bloke, one of the few players on the training ground who didn’t use foul language to make their point. You could learn a lot from our hero during this topical subject of crowd behaviour.

I just wish we could have got a few more years out of him. He was worth the gate money alone. The way he brought a ball down and pivoted one way then the other, a fantastic player.

On the subject of Copps. I've been given a recommendation to read his book. Is it a good read anyone that has read it? Worth investing in?

Yeah I’ve read it. It’s an easy and interesting read. It has some useful mindset tips in for those who need it.
Worth an investment

It is a good read. I was bought it for Christmas
I’m about half way through. I don’t normally like books written by sportsman. This is different. It’s written about him but in a frank and honest way and mainly about mindset and thought processes. It will be interesting to see if he can have any influence on the thoughts of the squad the way he says it changed/made him
