Trying to reconcile Brexit and the Ukrainian struggle for freedom .
Dear God please tell me a PM of this country didn't say those words and I dreamt it .
I really don't know what to say .
I've no words anymore .

Mogg says having parties in #10 while people were dying all over the country is trivial.

To be fair in the grand scale of things it probably is. What he doesn't mention, though, is that having a Prime Minister who blithely lies to Parliament without a second's thought is not in the slightest bit trivial.
-
As someone posted a while ago:
Ukraine elected a comedian to run their country and got a leader. We elected a leader to run our country and got a comedian.
Johnson came to power by creating confusion and division. And that's how he has ruled. It's not funny when there is a war on and a cost of living crises on the horizon. But his supporters love it so he will never change.

I do have a problem of a law for everyone else.
-
I've only just read what Johnson said.
God up above. In a field with a lot of runners, this is the most disgusting thing I've ever heard from him. He's playing the horror of Ukraine for domestic politics.
I expect he'll be ripped apart by people in here who say they hate anyone using a catastrophe as a means of political point scoring.
-
And yet there are many on here who wil still blithely vote them in.
-
If Jesús Christ was alive today, by definition he could only be a socialist. For an allegedly Christian country the huge preponderance of Conservative governments in the last 100 years don't half make you wonder about the inbred hypocrisy of a lot of Conservative voters...

And rightly so, it was beneath gutter politics, unfortunately thats what the Tories have sunk to

How to denigrate the struggles of the Ukrainians in one easy lesson.
-
These are truly truly horrific words to compare the heroism, suffering, separation, deaths, displacement of the Ukrainian people in the face of state terrorism with freely walking into a polling station and casting a vote, or even just posting one. By far his worst outburst. Disgusting.
And on top of that the irony that the Ukrainians are fighting to the death against the Russians while we freely voted for something the Russians actively wanted.
-
Ah no doubt his message will have been misconstrued, he didn't mean what it came out like, smirk smirk
-
More likely he'll deny ever saying it in the first place. :silly:
-
No one told him not to say that

Glyn, we don’t agree with much but I am with you all the way on this.
-
And yet there are many on here who wil still blithely vote them in.
Many? I doubt that there'll be more than a couple.
However, there are a few of us who believe that Starmer is the wrong man to lead the Labour Party, and that somehow gets construed by some on here to mean that we're Tory supporters.

You may say that SS but he may be the right man to beat the tories.

Only if Murdoch says he is .

The saddest thing about all this is that a proper blow hard like Johnson could come out with and get away with such garbled reasoning is that the country has such a poor opposition that the likes of this chancer gets to spout this and more outlandish claptrap without censor or the threat of being brought down.
As a nation we are so very badly served by our political parties, this inability to grasp the feelings, requirements and needs of the man in the street makes for a very uneasy period in out political history.
Labour, Liberal and Tory, dear me what an awful hobsons choice.
-
Marvellous.
Johnson comes out with one of THE most disgusting things to come out of a UK PM's mouth in decades.
And it's Labour's fault.
UK politics: 2022.
-
"Every day I wake up after that man has opened his mouth, I feel as if a little bit more of me has died. A little bit more of my kids’ future has been damaged. A little bit more of what my parents taught me to believe has been laughed at. And it feels very, very personal"
Just read this on Twitter and It sadly sums up my thoughts exactly.

''Javid says Johnson did not compare Brexit to Ukraine war amid claims PM regrets remark
Good morning. Sajid Javid, the health secretary, has been fielding questions on the behalf of the government this morning. The war in Ukraine is still dominating the news agenda, the cost of living is set to be the second biggest story of the week, because we’ve got the spring statement on Wednesday, and Javid had to address concerns about the rise in the number of coronavirus cases, but he also found himself fending off questions about Boris Johnson’s Ukraine/Brexit gaffe – a remark so insensitive that it is still at the top of the news two days later''
the Guardian live.
Apparently johnson was in the Ukraine giving the troops a pep talk.
-
It was a bright, cold day in March and the clocks were striking 13...
-
This is what happens when the senior members of the Govt have no talent other than to lie to establish the media narrative they want.
Johnson says:
"I know that it's the instinct of the people of this country, like the people of Ukraine, to choose freedom, every time. I can give you a couple of famous recent examples.
"When the British people voted for Brexit in such large, large numbers..."
Then Javif says he's not comparing Brexit to what is going on in Ukraine.
How the f**k can anyone with a shred of self respect support these people?
Johnson's mouth opens and repulsive filth pours out. Then Javif insplts you further by insustiy it didn't.
-
Still, what do you expect?
A Govt funded by Russians lies like a Russian Government. Stands to reason really...
-
The problem is two fold
He has surrounded hinself with a bunch of mainly useless sychophants who owe him their position so they will defend him to the hilt, or try to
And the other is we the public can do bugger all about it until the next election
Now it's over a month since the questionnaires went back to the Met so what is the problem there?

I was wrong. He got someone else to do it for him. Presumably he's now realised his own credibility is so completely shot that he's resorted to destroying other peoples' in order to save his skin now.
-
It looks like he was telling tales about the recovery of animals from Afghanistan as well;
https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/second-whistleblower-says-decision-to-evacuate-afghan-animals-did-come-from-pm-316864/
Why this was a priority, when translators for UK operations were left behind to an unknown fate, is just beyond all understanding.
-
But it wasn't a priority Albie. No10 has denied that happened. And Johnson never tells li.......Ah! Got it!
-
What's the betting the Tory party knife Boris about 12-18 months before the next electon and install a calming, reliable John Major figure to reassure us all that the Boris shit is in the past now?
Oh. Hang on...
BobG
-
They don't have a calming figure.
Sunak has been mooted, but he as Chancellor will be the most hated man in the UK by the end of the year, with the coming 4-5% reduction in real wages this year.
-
That was the point of my final sentence Billy :):) They ain't got nobody.

Double negative Bob ? :chair: ;)

Deliberately Hound. Deliberately. Surely you can see that for yourself? Lol. Obviously not!
BobG
-
Nope, sorry Bob, he said they don’t have a calming figure. Then said Sunak will be the most hated man in the uk.
The last post you made before his only had one sentence anyway, about a JMajor type of figure.
I must be missing your point mate with regards to the double negative, sorry.
-
Lol. On my screen here Hound, my original post has a 4.5 line paragraph and then the short final sentence that was intended to question the Conservative Party's ability to find a John Major figure. Billy's response made me aware that my short final sentence was not clear enough. Hence the heavy emphasis of the double negative. Lol. You know me well enough to know that I know very well how to use language. Something as crass as a double negative therefore is clearly deliberately intended to make a point.
BobG
-
Ah, well Bob, I was going on the wording that you used “that was the point of my final sentence etc”, hence the lack of clarity.
Easy done I suppose.
Nice to chat with you anyway.

There's a war going on with people dying and refugees trying to find safety while the government and parliament are distracted because it couldn't follow the rules it set for everyone and partied while people died in the tens of thousands.
The police are investigating the behaviour of the government because those involved and asked about it lied. Then when the photos became public they lied again.
More people have died through covid in the UK than in the Ukraine.
