I would say that this is a thoughtful employer, The NHS cannot be held responsible for the financial situations of its employers. It, as a state sponsored employer cannot be seen to be paying over the odds, remember there are many different roles in the NHS, some pay a great deal more than others, it will obviously be the jobs at the lower end of the pay scale that the benefit is being targeted at.
You could say this is an employer who understands that it has many low paid staff on its books and is trying to help them in a manner that will not blow the budget. Taxpayers would not appreciate their taxes paying cleaners £25 quid an hour.

Someone I know who works for the police federation told a story the other day of a single female police officer who was a mum. She was told by a financial adviser that she would get the same money for leaving the police, getting a job on part time hrs at National min wage and claiming benefits.
So be a full time cop working crap shifts, getting shat on by some of the general public, msm and government . Or spend more time at home seeing your kids, work less hours and get the same money?

Looking at the pay scales in the attachment it would seem a basic constable earns a fair wage, regardless of the other issues you mentioned (poor working conditions, dealing with the dregs of society, ect) i would say to give up this vocation , decent pension and all would be a great shame for someone who decided that this was their career path in the first place.
To leave it to go work part time NMW and claim benefits i would of thought would be against everything a services person stood for.

You’d be surprised. I’ve never known morale be so low. Retention and recruitment is shocking. And the gold plated pension ain’t so gold anymore.

I saw that policewoman tell this to Priti Patel at some sort of Police event, and asked her what she was going to do about it. Unsurprisingly Patel completely ignored the real question and waffled on about something else.

I saw an article that quoted the said woman police officer had earnt over £40,000 last tax year when they checked up.
It must have sort of taken the sting out of that story as it has not had legs since.
Could be the said officer has no time for publicity and is on a how to balance your finances course at night school.
