I saw a video on the internet where someone cut one down to about a foot and then cut a cross in it

They then filled the centre of the cross with kindling and poured a little bit of petrol on it and lit it

It apparently burnt the stump out from the middle outwards

I’ve never tried it

I had five huge conifer trees in the garden cut down a few years ago. The trunks were about half metre thick.
I went old school on them.
Dug around the stump as deep as I could exposing the main roots then went at them with a reciprocating saw/ hand saw.
I spent a weekend on each mind.

I also did stuff like that a few years ago.
These days I think I would hire a mini digger and drag it out.

Drill some large/deep holes in the stumps and pour Epsom salt’s into the holes , keep topping up the holes with more over the course of a few weeks and they will kill the roots making the stump easier to move . The Epsom Salt’s will take all the moisture from the root

I used to know a bloke, who bored in retirement decided to buy a tree trunk grinder. That became his hobby and business, going around crunching up old tree trunks in the ground.

Probably the more expensive solution that but these businesses do exist.

Grinders only get rid of what you can see. There is a lot more underground that u can’t see. Depends what you plan to do with the ground I suppose
