I'm reading Factfulness by the late, great Hans Rosling. A book on the lifelong task he had of trying to get people to understand data and realise how much better the world is than many people think, or than it used to be.

I strongly recommend it to anyone who really wants to understand the world. It's a life-changer.

Understanding the world through data is a problem in itself.
