On a two year deal. We’ve now got a very large squad of permanent players. Total change for loan based recruitment last few seasons. If we sign Tomlin on even a year permanent deal we are going to have to be trimming some of the permanent players. Huge squad.

GMC wanted 25 sign Tomlin we have 26 including Bottomley the third keeper not Huge
But some will go on loan and maybe else where we will wait and see. But it’s a good that we have sign players who have had a good preseason and most have very good potential.

Bl**dy brilliant!

Just shows the calibre of player you can attract when your club is on a sound financial footing, has an ambitious board, fantastic recruitment team & a club that exudes success.

Sorry to have stolen your line sulk-1969.

Well pleased with that signing  a very exciting prospect from what I've seen of him which isn't a lot.
Looking a really good squad, now get some of the long termers back and this season is going to be very interesting.

Got him on a permanent have we?. Could be a very good signing, a really good young player.

More great news on the permanent signing of Hurst. I was expecting him to be a loan signing. Think Birmingham may have given away a gem. We will have to see.
Brilliant summer of recruitment and possibly another one player to come.
The last one if it is going to be LT would be the icing on the cake.

So we have a board who are showing any doubters they are ambitious and the last 2 years it would hopefully seem to have been just a blip.
Eye off the ball yes but mainly due to Covid and keeping the finances under control imo.

Looks a very good prospect.

Making us wait for LT?

Expect some might go out on loan, yes.

What’s different now I guess is that in that squad only Faulkner, Ravenhill and Bottomley are what you would not rank as senior players. Everyone else in that squad you could expect to start. Keeping that many people happy is not easy, especially once you throw in the jolly green giant on loan from Birmingham, who will expect to be competing.

This is far better than having a side full of loanees, but I suspect we will see some departures either loan or permanent as we are otherwise carrying a big squad and while they won’t all be on a huge pile, some senior players  might not even make the bench.

I hope we sign Tomlin, but if we don't I think Tommy Rowe will and could take up that position.

I think Tomlin will sign eventually, it’s an important move at this stage of his career.
The wages probably aren’t what he’s used to but he will be treated properly. Maybe managing issues he has better than at previous clubs.

He has fantastic ability on the ball. No doubt he can get better wages elsewhere but will he be sat in the stand not playing?. He needs to play, he will get that with us. He will be rested when needed. If he signs he will give us an edge over sides in this league. We only want players that want to be here, so upto him, it’s his career.

The trouble with that idea, Selby, TR can play 3 or 4 positions and will definitely be cover for left back.

We need Tomlin to complete the picture.

I agree with all that but first we have to get Taylor Close and Anderson back playing. Then GMC and Cops might try and trim some more if they can I could pick some now.

I would loan Faulkner, Ravenhill and Bottomley out. I can’t see where Agard fits in now, either loan him out or a permanent, he needs to play regular football.
I would sign Kuleya ,he has a lot of ability that isn’t quite coming out. He needs a loan deal at conference north level. He could be a good player in a year or two.
Fej I would sign on a short term deal if he is fit. He could only be signed if these players went out on loan

Happy to see Hurst come in on a permanent deal. These are the kind of players everyone is often crying out for - young, plenty of development potential and therefore a possible resale value that is very high. Maxwell, Hurst, Long and Miller to a degree all fit this profile from our summer signings, plus recruits from last year like Griffiths, Younger and Olowu also do.

We've got 24 contracted senior players now, is it? 25 if we add Tomlin or an equivalent, and then McSheffrey says we are done. See how injuries progress and we might need a loanee or two before the window shuts, but all in all that looks very healthy.

That's right. It is 24 now, would be 25 with Tomlin, and door not apparently totally shut on Fejiri.

Crap board....they never invest and back managers

Just wondered who'd be the first coming out with this shite.

Can you just remind me what league we are in this season.

Mistakes have been made and only quality signings would help bring the fans back.

I think that you missed the sarcasm in that post.

Alan . there is no trouble with it, if he will not sign there is  nothing we can do about it, but out of our present squad as it stands Tommy Rowe would be my pick a week on Saturday to play in that position, that is all I was suggesting.
In my post I said I would like Tomlin to sign for us, but I think everyone acknowledges that Lee Tomlin will not last all the game on occasions or be able to play every game and was suggesting that out of the players in our squad Tommy Rowe was currently the best fit in our squad to play the position when he was not.
If he does not sign Tommy Rowe becomes very very important in that area from the start of the season, and we will need cover for both positions probably. Even Tommy Rowe can't do it all,and I don't see a player like him wishing to be regarded as just cover for positions when he is one of our most potent weapons in the oppositions defensive third if we get the ball into him in that area.

Is this a candidate for a DOUBLE WHOOSH!!!?

I read no eyed deer’s post as saying that he’s still not impressed with the board, suggesting they are crap given the fact we’re in league two and that the signings haven’t been of a high enough standard yet.

I see Tomlin signing as the vital final piece. Not least because we have a lot of young, talented, and clearly very bright players in the squad, so another experienced head will help them enormously in their development.

What a Friday. Squad is imo a automatic promotion squad at least. Think it's a better side than we had last time in L2.

Wouldn't mind us looking to offload a player here or there now. Agard doesn't look like getting much of a sniff same for Seaman if a decent loan could be found for him it's make sense

Agree, I think Agard out and Fej signed back on (if fit) is replacing and improving, then potentially seaman loaned out a winger/wing back loaned in and he has absolutely nailed this window.

That said I acknowledge that’s a bit greedy and to be honest think GM and Copps have already had a bloody good window.

I'd be more open to taking Fej if he had played some games in preseason. That he hasn't been involved at all means it's be a huge gamble. We have 5 central forwards, counting Tomlin, for what might only be 1 position. Is Fej needed even if fit

We can make signings after the window if players are unattached so maybe there's time for him to play a few behind closed doors games

This has been a fantastic summer. Personally, I'd have signed a new senior GK however I accept that the club have deemed that the funds are better spent elsewhere. Hopefully they're right.
