Title: This summer is beginning to remind me of 2016
Post by: Dutch Uncle on July 23, 2022, 10:41:50 am
After a miserable under-performing season and relegation we recruited several good players - Marquis, Wright, Blair, Baudry, Houghton, Mason........

But importantly it all began with Tommy Rowe signing a contract

Let's hope we have a similar new season ahead  :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Without looking at the numbers, I imagine we signed more experienced players in 2016 than we have this summer. Combined with an inexperienced manager (especially in comparison to Ferguson in 2016), we're more of an unknown quantity this season.

Personally I think we'll do well. The bulk of our signings this summer are exactly what I've wanted from us for a while. They're largely young and in the earlier stages of what look like promising careers. These are the sort of players who can develop with us and hopefully stick around to compete at a higher level with us or, alternatively, attract interest and bigger fees from higher up the pyramid which we can then take advantage of and re-invest.

Completely agree with that  :scarf:
