Retired from the game.
What a legend. The service and dedication she's given to England, and women's football in general has been exemplary.

Well, she certainly retired on a high. What a servant to the game.
-
Great way to go out. Would have loved her to beat Shrek’s goal tally though.
-
I am suprised, its less than a year to the World Cup so I would have thought she would want to go thro until then. Still I am sure she has her reasons. Brilliant career and hopefully inspired a few new careers on the way this summer.
-
I’ve never heard of her.
-
I’ve never heard of her.
That's OK, I doubt whether she's heard of you either.
-
That’s rather rude, I’m sure that she doesn’t know who I am, I thought that being called a legend would mean that everyone would recognise her name.
-
You obviously have no interest in the ladies game then Jimmy?
-
Yes, I’ve no interest, but I’ve just read about her in the paper, pardon my ignorance.
Though I can’t pardon for rudeness
-
Probably got a job on sky sports
-
Or maybe after Russos performances realised she would not be 1st choice? Excellent player though wonder why she has packed in alltogether though?
-
Why the inverted commas?
-

My fault with the semantics, Jimmy, I should have said "legend in women's football".
However, with over 17 million TV viewers for the final, a lot more people will now be aware of who she is.

SS, I would think that the post by Jimmydee about being rude was aimed at reply number five by Wigley.

Jimmydee appears to have a problem with the word legend, that Steve used and Glyn didn't.
Why he bothered to reply to a forum thread about someone he has never heard of - only he will know.
-
To spend more time with her "husband"
“Callum Convery”
-
Yes, I’ve no interest, but I’ve just read about her in the paper, pardon my ignorance.
Though I can’t pardon for rudeness
Wilts, his post (above) says that he had just read about her in the paper.
I suppose he then saw this thread and passed a comment.
The rudeness he mentioned seems to me to be clearly at reply number five.
Maybe if he looks in again he will clarify for us.
-
I thought he was rude posting what he did in a thread he has no interest in. He made no mention of his objection to the use of the word 'legend' in what I thought was an unnecessarily brusque post. Perhaps he should have made himself clearer in the first place. It seems a lot of people agree with me.
-
“A lot of people agree with me”.
Really?
-
Judging by the number of people who've liked my post, I'd say so.
For someone who is very touchy about being incorrectly quoted, you are very cavalier doing so yourself as you didn't quote my whole sentence, missing out a very important part of it.

Nope, not correct hound. This was his first post in the thread:
I’ve never heard of her.
I do hope he wont bother to clarify anything.
Imho his contributions so far have spoiled a valiant attempt by Steve to recognise one of this country's top footballers. She is one of the few alive who have won an elite national competion with/for this country and if anyone deserves the tag legend over her career it's Ellen White.

Wilts, i still disagree on your point one.
I do agree though that White is a legend in the womens game.
-
A good question would be where do Rovers supporters on here who obviously watch football see what level the women's international side if coming into men's football would be competitive at.
Like tennis it is the same game played by teams made up of different sexes, what level do you think the present England side could attain in the men's game? the old nutshell of equal pay has been raised by one or two.
-
Football is a business.
If I earn my company 3 million pound in a quarter I would expect to earn more than someone doing the same job who earnt the company 1 million.
It is a fact the Mens game is lightyears ahead of the womens commercially.
Also no one from the womens team can beat a record set by Rooney. Likewise no one from the mens team can beat a record set by Ellen white.

At least we can disagree agreeably hound.

As I typed ‘ I’d never heard of her’ so it wasn’t a person that was a legend to me.
However, after I had posted, then I had read about her and discovered that she had a good career.
I hope that this has cleared it up for you.
I certainly had no intention to spoil Steve’s post.

It's quite pleasant on here when I'm not involved!
