After reading the Tory propaganda/control and the BBC thread made me think about opening this thread.
I can't get enough of System of a Down at the minute and bit of Rage Against The Machine.
Although Zack de la Rocha is more of a sympathiser to the machine nowadays

There's only one song that captures the UK of today in my opinion .
The one and only John Lydon and PIL and " Rise " .
Class song and a class man .
Anger Is An Energy .

Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?

Lydon is a multi-millionaire who lives in California. Anger is a right good earner...

Get them on the bill at the Askern Music Festival next year.
-
I’ve been following a lad from Edinburgh called Hamish Hawk since hearing him on Bbc6 music.
He’s slowly getting bigger and supported Simple Minds at a gig in his hometown recently.
A bit different to my usual fodder of angry punk and Junkshop glam lol
-
I’ll be listening to some MSG and Tygers of Pan Tang this weekend at Stonedead festival in Newark

Mugnapper for all his faults the one thing I don’t think you can say about Lydon is he’s thick. Far from it in my view. Lots of faults etc but definitely not thick

The Old Crow Medicine Show and The Dead South

Got right into Celtic Frost lately. One for the metalheads on here.

Not as much as the UK public did concerning Saville .
Lydon called it in 1978 and for that he has my utter respect .

BB and Wolfie keep going on about this young up and coming singer called Tommy Steele.
Anyone heard of him?

Recently I've been into the sounds of Working Mens Club.

There's a direct influence isn't there (but not copyists) I see they have a sponsorship deal with adidas Spezial now. That's not really selling out for a band like this.
-

Saw the snuts last year, very good live.
Had the new embrace album on today, quite a good one that and the new muse album. That includes a song that many of us could have written "we are f**king f**ked".

Ferocious Dog, The Leylines, Gaz Brookfield and Rusty Shackle are but a few of my current favourites.
-
I've never heard of any of these beat combos

.... Quite a refreshing change from the multi-millionaire champagne socialist music makers eh Wilts!
By 'refreshing' do you mean keeping all your money for yourself is better than donating it to/or supporting socially benefical causes (like Pink Floyd doing their recent single for Ukraine) BB?
Might go see his 'mate' Jah Wobble who is playing down here in a coupe of weeks. Next gig will be Cary Grace next weekend.
Last lp bought was the vinyl of the latest Half Man Half Biscuit album.
-
I'm enjoying Amyl and the Sniffers, IDLES and the latest Frank Turner albums at the moment. I picked up the Electronic remixes mini album at the recent Record Store Day too. That's rather lovely.
-
Ferocious Dog, The Leylines, Gaz Brookfield and Rusty Shackle are but a few of my current favourites.
You must go the Wroot rocks gigs if this lot are your bag. I’m going to Ey up mi duck festival in Epworth next May which is full of this type of band

No, I don't mean that Wilts. Are you suggesting John Lydon doesn't give financial donations?

Last night we went to hear the Ensemble Royale de Paris a quintet, 3 violins a cello and double bass with Romanian soprano Andrea Carmen Marin in one of the oldest religious buildings in Paris, very atmospheric.
-
Ferocious Dog, The Leylines, Gaz Brookfield and Rusty Shackle are but a few of my current favourites.
Couldn't beleve the age group and dress style at Bearded Theory for Ferocious Dog. Was expecting a full on punky hard rock type band, totally opposite. Gaz Brookfield was excellent will be toddling off to Nottingham later this year to see him again

I sometimes go off on a youtube wander, recently had a wander around The Yardbirds and the sequel groups that spawned from them, they probably had three of the finest guitarist ever, in Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton, the singer Keth Relf, was pretty good as well. A bit old school I know but can’t be doing with a lot of this modern day shite
-
The Lovely Eggs - long catelogue of inspiring noise, not to be missed live.
The Mysterines - their first offerings were great, impressed they've kept the quality with their latest.
The Bug Club - newish young trio from Caldicot, fun and absolutely cracking live.
Slothrust - female guitar, singer, songwriter. Quirky but rocking.
Coco Rosie - I can't get enough of them, though no one on here is going to like them :silly:

Discovered lovely eggs a few months backs, fantastic.. Washing line smile is a great lyric

Interesting that BRR, I have never heard of CocoRosie. They sound good - reminds me of Bjork singing with the Roches.
-
I gave Coco Rosie a go and I'm impressed. Definite shades of Bjork but I like Bjork.

My mate follows Ferocious Dog all over was in Belfast last week now Aviemore
-
Is he about 50 - 60 years old , long straggly coloured chin beard, hair tied back in a ponytail, FD tee shirt and sleeveless denim jacket by any chance?
-
No but he often posts photos with a guy of that description
-
Just going by the FD followers I've seen, they all seem to look like that, including some of the female followers :-]]
-
Love a bit of Les Carter in FD
-
Talking of Les Carter, if you've not heard Jim Bob's last 2 albums (Pop Up Jim Bob and Who do we hate today) give your ears a treat.
-
Who in their right mind has a pony tail at 50 plus?!
-
This evening I will have Snow Patrol pumped into my ears, whether I want it or not. They are playing at Bangor Marina less than 100m away with a direct pathway for sound. Are they any good? Should I open my windows or go on the balcony?
Gary Lightbody is from these parts and is a bit of a local hero and proud of his roots. They have played live here at least 4 times in the last 8 years.
-
If Snow Patrol are playing, IMO close your windows.
-
All about taste in music, personally I would have the windows wide open
-

Francis Rossi.
How about 60+? Better than having hair getting in yer scran.

I do indeed. Also Gig in a Field Festivals that is also run by Neil and Amber from Wroot Rocks.
I went to Ey Up Mi Duck this year and it was absolutely awesome. So incredibly friendly and not the slightest bit of rubbish left behind on site after either. I had tickets for next year the second they went on sale! :)

Gaz Brookfield is just an all round nice guy. Have seen him 3 times this year including last week at the Foolhardy Folk Festival in Nottingham. Fantastic little 1 day festival that I would highly recommend for next year.
-

I would have to say having seen them numerous times now I haven't seen many with pony tails. Far more with mohicans and skin heads. Some cracking beards though.
-
On another musical theme, huge credit to the Rovers matchday announcer who now uses the absolute classic Enter Sandman by Metallica when we come out. Very wise choice. That seems to have usurped the Zeps but it meets with my approval and that is a very rare thing indeed. :)

Bangor Marina, is a very nice area, a bit up market for a commoner like myself, but still very nice
-
We went to Bangor once. It was a beautiful day. We had lunch on the way, and it was all for under a quid back in the 60s.

Did you know Fiddler's Dram intended that to be Rhyl, but that didn't scan right for the metre so they chose Bangor.

For those interested the point about last night's gig was moot, and almost mute as well. I could hardly hear them - it turns out they played an acoustic set for about 5K people. Last time they played considerably further away in front of 35K and I heard everything. Also the wind was blowing the wrong way so the sound didn't travel well in my direction. Still trying to work out if it was a shame or a blessing.

Arcade fire tomorrow night, I don't think they've been fully cancelled yet. Always good value live.
-
Stereophonics.
A lead singer/songwriter, (Kelly Jones, who can also play guitar & keyboards) two guitarists & a great drummer.
Been together 25 years.
A ‘proper’ band.

Kelly has a very distinctive voice and he's not a bad song writer too. A bit retro for me but I wouldn't complain.

He did Rob, he has played at Wroot Rocks too. He is so good live Beans, up there with my favourites.
Neil and Amber have got quite a following now, their small festivals and gigs generally sell out straight away so you have got to be on it to get tickets. I would highly recommend following Wroot Rocks on Facebook or Instagram to keep up to date with their events.

Can’t beat a bit of The Nolan’s.
Im in the mood for dancing, romancing, ooooh I’m giving it all tonight. Few pints in Black bull first before match, jobs a gud un.

Stereophonics are so bland. Would gladly give away any tickets free if i won them for a Stereophonics gig.
Having on a lot of Primus, Coheed & Cambria and also oddly enough Ozrics on lately.

Yeah not managed to make it to one of those yet. Incredibly tempted by Gaz Brookfield in October.

They're a bonkers couple, so lovable and down to earth. During lockdown they did some zoom sessions, one was a classic. Intended as them answering questions and chatting whilst playing their fave vinyl. Lasted hours, and a lot of alcohol on their side.

Indeed, quite a few didn't turn up for the gig which was sold out but only about 75% full I'd say. Fair to say given the claims the song choices were interesting (they opened with rebellion lies).
But the gig was brilliant and the new album superb live.

Caught a bit of 6 music yesterday, Giles Petersson. He specialises in the obscure. Anyway he played a track called A Ver A Ver by Donald. Now this apparently is an Argentine producer who goes by the unlikely name of Donald McCloughsky or something very Scottish sounding, I forget. Anyway it's a really cool electro funk sound, worth checking. I'll put up a link in a bit.

A clip here.

On a musical theme. I've just read that a US Court has dismissed a mans claims that a photograph of him taken as a baby that was used for the iconic cover from Nirvana's album Nevermind was sexual abuse. Claiming he had taken far too long to bring a case.
I'm generally a miserable sod but even if that baby was me, it is surely something to be proud of rather than seek damages for. To be able to say that you were the main focus of one the most iconic album covers in musical history must surely trump trying to win a few quid?!
I'd be dining out on that story for ever.
-
The bloke who tried to claim against Nirvana does it every couple of years, with comments like it’s ruined his life etc. In other words he’s trying to scam them for money
-
For those who mentioned Wroot Rocks...this is their festival for next August. Tickets went on sale yesterday. Will have sold out by the end of the day.

Back in July I saw The Strokes, Fontaines DC & Wet Leg at Lytham St Anne's.
All three were quality, I've since picked up the new Fontaines album Skinty Fia and its a great listen.
