I watched the game on I follow .The team performance was excellent and they controlled the game for long periods .There were outstanding performances from Tomlin and Clayton again and they really do give us that edge .
-
Some of Tomlin’s little flicks and dinks were audacious and a joy to see. He looks fit and clearly enjoying his game. All about man management. I reckon Copps has had some influence there.
Professional performance. Should have had more goals. World class tackle by their #2, who was outstanding, to deny Miller, and Tomlin wasted a sitter. How Hylton put that header wide, only he knows…
But, 3 points on the road. Love it.
-
Bit harsh interviewing him when he's trying to play OutRun though.
-
Tomlin is the difference for us in all but 1 game this season , his contribution can not go unnoticed
-
We just look very good.

Yep. Must admit i had some significant doubts about the commitment of Tomlin to us and to the game after that bizarre dismissal at Bradford but he's produced in most games since and impressed with his work rate so i have to say right now that i got him wrong. Long may it continue.
A fit and happy Tomlin is a cut above at this level.

Initial thoughts are that we now defend very much as a unit, it was very noticeable to see Hurst and Molyneux drop back, fill in and protect their full backs, coupled with a very strong performance from our holding two, Clayton is an 8 every week but i must admit Biggins has raised his game these last two matches. Tomlin did things today that no one else on the pitch could ever do and should of scored but the effort is there and his temperament his holding just fine.
Biggest praise though is for the back 4 today, they were immense, Rowe slotted in well and again managed to placate big players running at him(did you notice, their whole side was massive) which has to be very good planning by the management. Knoyle who i had an inkling would be fit for the match had a very good game today, did not rush in, stood his attacker up well and provided a good outlet going forward, his progression this season has been sustained which is very pleasing because he's now producing the go forward we all expected from him when he first arrived.
The biggest praise though has to Go to Williams with Faulkner very close behind. Williams was huge today and has been building to this all season, winning all his headers, getting his blocks in and making any progress by their forwards very difficult, tremendous improvement and change in mindset from him, his confidence must be massive just now and we are all the better for it. Marshalled the defence as the senior defender brilliantly,(his frequent two min rests for "injury "were very professional and he knew just how far to take it)
Last word to a guy making his full debut, what a great game for Faulkner today, right from the off you could see his determination to not be mastered , i would of imagined a plan of theirs would of been to target him but they got absolutely nothing out of him,(gave away a poor free kick in a dangerous position but it came to nothing) looked born to the role and will only get better, his timely interceptions and last ditch efforts to clear danger were great to see, even managed to get away without a booking on a couple of occasions. GM will have to evaluate his plans for him now as he's made a serious claim to stay in the side.
Fantastic hard grafting effort today, in time the subtlety and skill will come to the fore.
Coming together nicely.the whole group must be loving their exploits rubbing the stats freaks and bookies noses in it today , again.

Our three highest earners in Taylor, Close and Anderson not involved. We’re doing this with a hand tied behind our back and still unbeaten.

They might be our highest earners but they’re certainly not our 3 best players.

Faulkner keeps the shirt for me it’s a clean sheet and a win. Think Rowe playing left back was a good move for the experience next to him as well as physicality.

Yes, that’s my point. A significant portion of our budget is on three players who collectively have rarely played over the last 12 months. They are contracted to us and are talented players, but imagine if that budget was available and what we could do with it. Because they haven’t contributed much for some time now.

Is Close out of contract this year?

Its a long season, as we've already seen with Anderson, they will all be required at some point, Good strength in depth is a good thing to have .

Thanks for posting more or less everything i was going to say. I could not agree more. Especially re. Williams and Faulkner.

Faulkner is likely to become a big player for us.
Fantastic for him to make his debut against a big name like Hoskins and keep him quiet all game.

It was noticeable that when Hylton came on he tried to latch himself onto Faulkner, got no change there and bar the headed effort at the end was marshalled very well. Mature head on young shoulders.
