Title: Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Post by: Panda on August 29, 2022, 03:00:16 pm
Just read in the DFP that they had a huge STEPS gig there the other night.

I'm all for maximising profits for a business but it is a wildlife park, not a music venue and i can't help thinking that the noise levels from the music and masses of people alike won't do the animals any good.

I think businesses who focus on animals should do just that and leave the diversification alone.

Places like Flamingo Land i also find they don't focus on animal welfare so much and lump in the animals as part of the whole 'entertainment' which sends out the wrong message.

Animals should not be kept at theme parks and likewise, music concerts should not be held at wildlife parks. IMO.

It's not as if they don't make enough cash at £23 a pop for an adult to get in.

Disappointed.

Noise levels?

There were lots of complaints that most people couldn’t hear them and walked out

I think they were from disabled people, who always seem to get put at the back instead of at the front. So much for equality and inclusion lol. That only seem to apply to gender / sexuality and race these days.

Sticking people in wheelchairs at the back of events / shows so they can't see anything is the norm these days.

Anyway, not being able to hear a STEPS concert is a bonus is it not?

YWP are a wildlife park. They should focus on the animals and drop the diversification which is all about money making. Greedy t**ts.

If I couldn't hear Steps, I wouldn't be complaining, I'd be thanking the sound guys.

Good point Panda and I will add a pet hate of mine ( didn't see that pun coming) the Jet Ski events that sometimes are held on Lakeside.

Supposedly a wild life haven ... Don't know if Covid stopped it or public having a go at them

Pity about the Fishing as well. Fish are being caught and taken and some are put back but die due to the stress

I go fishing but haven't been for ages but I think it is out of order there as Swans Ducks etc can and do get caught and some of the kids fishing there pay no attention to the People , kids and dogs etc when casting in

We had to put up with the awful racket from the "concert", talking about animal welfare. i don't know what it did to the lions but Sunday morning sounded like someone went in the cage and didn't come out!

Must admit, musically it sounded better than the Steps concert.

They have a concert every Saturday in August and have done for years.

I live nearby and the Steps concert on Saturday was particularly loud.

The complaints were that the music was drowning out the singing due to problems with the sound system. I can believe it from the noise.

TBF they always finish at a reasonable time.

Tell me you are kidding about wheelchair users. Have you been to an outdoor event in recent times, the less abled are given a raised platform at the side or usually near the sound desk at every festival I've been to including Glasto and IoW, best view in the house

Should stick to caring for animals. Most of which shouldn't be incarcerated in a zoo. Take your point about disabled wheelchair users RR although it is hit and miss.

"greedy t**ts"..??

Maybe they have a different opinion to you on what they should be doing,  Does that justify you using abusive terms, because you don't agree with them?

If it wasn’t for zoos a lot of the animals would be extinct, the enclosures at YWP are exceptional and they put a huge effort into saving species.
The concert is usually outside the animal area as are the silent fireworks displays they have
