Reported in Sunday Times Smogg is working to remove the above.

Pointless piece of legislation

This legislation has more holes and exceptions in it that it really has been a waste of time.

The rail industry has found it so ineffective that its drafted its own much more usable and safety conscience legislation.

I doubt most who are working from home have worked anywhere near the hours they used to, never mind limiting hours people can work.

Au contraire. I've never worked so hard in my life. Regular 70 hour weeks and I've seen my eyesight diminish in the process. Many others have relayed the same experience.

And for the record I think the 48 hour working week directive is a piece of meaningless, Eurotrash, dogsh*t legislation.

Selby, I'll wager you don't work from home for a major organisation?

Big H I will agree with that, honestly don’t know how I’d manage if I had to work from the office every day now.
The railway ‘standard’ is ok for safety critical staff but will never work for back room staff

Join a union if you wish to keep hold of your rights

Filo, I am a member of a union, not that I've seen any benefit.

Through a combination of inept leadership and anti-employee legislation over the past 10 years or so, union influence in these matters has become more and more marginalised. I certainly wouldn't look to them to preserve my rights!

Bloke up the road from me has been building some garden decking whilst 'shirking from home'.
