I presume Ben Close is being eased back into playing in most games, not injured. He might come on in the second half if needed.

No George either? Injury? He was ok at Rochdale, maybe given a rest until the weekend.

Pool having most of game at moment. They seem to be winning mot balls and had couple of good chances. We can’t seem to get going forward at moment.

Don’t think Griffiths has won an aerial challenge yet. I would prefer Agard at least starting.

They’re constantly looking for the ball over the top which is causing us some problems. Looking anything but easy at present

Is it just me or does anyone else think Molyneux is so unproductive out wide and looks a better prospect as a midfield/forward?
Title: Re: Hartlepool v TLOD

Yes because every manager and defender know what he’s going to do

But he did just hit the post, decent effort..
Title: Re: Hartlepool v TLOD
Post by: ScillyRover on October 04, 2022, 08:16:20 pm
His runs always seem to come to nothing out wide but if he plays a short passing game in midfield he seems far more effective.

I’m not doubting his effort or ability. Just think we are not using him as effectively as he could be.

Not seen Williams win a header yet.

Doesn’t count if he is unchallenged. It was his man that forced the save from Mitchell before the goal.

I originally posted before I saw the goal but doesn’t change that Williams is crap.

What do we do all week in training? Never seems to be a game plan. Just lump it up to whoever’s unfortunate enough to be playing up top that day to lose yet another header.
Title: Re: Hartlepool v TLOD
Post by: Barmby Rover on October 04, 2022, 08:29:08 pm
I thought the point of Hurst and Knoyle was to get to the by line and put crosses in for the front 2. Rovers are not doing that at all.

Devoid of any ideas. Can't control the ball, can't pass, can't beat a man. Totally and utterly useless.
I think I might be watching the Liverpool game in a few minutes.

It is starting to feel like this could be a season of 'might have been's'. Despite having some undoubtedly good players we continue to play without intelligence and without learning. That, to me, is a serious warning sign.

Too many key players out..  we’ve half a decent first team missing and it shows.

I’m sure the manager would prefer some of those players to be available!
Title: Re: Hartlepool v TLOD
Post by: BillyStubbsTears on October 04, 2022, 08:36:41 pm
We are playing the 2nd worst side in the game.

We don't press when there defence has the ball. Then they still find players with 15 yards of space 30 yards out from our goal.

We have no energy, no organisation, absolutely zero physical presence anywhere on the pitch.

That half, considering who we are playing, was as bad as anything in the past 3 years. Utterly unacceptable.
Title: Re: Hartlepool v TLOD
Post by: Lesonthewest on October 04, 2022, 08:37:17 pm
Big improvement needed second half, this is absolute rubbish. If the management can't see that launching the ball to a lone striker who has barely won a header isn't working & changing it then I despair. Clayton needs to come off he's way off the pace, they're just passing through our midfield to players in space in front of our defenders with ease.

Pitch has held up the ball a lot and we appeared to struggle with the conditions a bit. Midfield has been very short and Griffiths can't hold the ball up at all.  Needs a rethink completely. Not sure why Molyneux moved, he was getting joy through the middle.

Oh and it's rained under a roof!

Would not have been a goal if Knoyle wasn't injured

We are so bad defensively. Almost every team we play against, good or bad, just peppers our goal all game.

Tactically inept

He has to go. People from the outside might think it harsh but for the sake of our season he can't keep on producing this level of performance.

Copps has had all season to come up with a plan b which after last season it was always going to be a realistic possibility we'd need. Move quick and we can still have a really good season

Reo Griffiths not won one ball night.

We are getting what we deserve - absolutely nothing. We’ve been shocking for the majority of this game. This tactic of hoofing the ball long all the time is ridiculous, when we can’t win a header. I am getting increasingly disenchanted watching this crap week in week out and I bet I’m not the only one.

Reo Griffiths not won one ball night.
And I’ll predict he won’t score a goal in the next three months.

|Poor game, no real direction in the team, nobody took charge in midfield, and so they had too many clear runs on goal.

f**king awful!

Griffiths may as well have been sat on settee next to me for what he contributed!

Apart from that 15 minute spell before we scored that was yet another totally clueless performance.

When they win it never looks decisive, too much inaccuracy of passing, too slow in the build up, making it hard for themselves.

I’m not normally one for saying the manager should go but enough is enough, he isn’t learning, the performances (if you can call them that) are dire but there are zero tactics, plan or cohesion, he’s had plenty enough time to have started looking like he has a plan

The performances and style of play are just awful. I don't enjoy watching us at all, it's just unbearably frustrating. We should be much, much better. The manager is responsible for all of that.

Got what we deserved. We looked like the bottom side and with some of the players we have difficult to see how we can improve.  Certain someone will say we have players injured and will different when they come back. Time will tell.

Thing is I'm just not surprised anymore, it's been the same most of the season. Hands up anyone who has been watching a side who has ambitions of chasing at least a play off place for the majority of the games this season, I know I haven't.

Those games we won in extra time, we looked fit and were playing for each other, McSheffrey then started calling players out in the press and we’ve looked lethargic ever since, I’d he losing the dressing room?
