The most influential address most of the country's never heard of .
The more I read and listen to content on this place the more disturbed I become .
I'm actually beginning to think given the events since Truss became PM that they are no longer influencing the government , they are the government .
Dressed up as a Think Tank for economic ideas it's really a Lobby Group for extreme right wing neoliberal economics funded by corporations who remain anonymous .
If you aren't disturbed by that you should be even as a middle of the road Tory voter .
The end game is that the welfare state doesn't exist including the NHS , taxation cut to next to nothing so as to benefit the wealthy and huge corporations .
Both Truss and Kwarteng have serious links to this group .

Apprently the Institute of Economic Affairs are the same but seem to appear on a lot of programmes especially on BBC contributing their opinions.

That's a very valid point Rover , these fruitcakes are using the media to spout facts when in fact they are no such thing .
They are extreme neoliberal right wing opinions and they are washing their views through supposedly credible media platforms and it comes out the other side as credible politics .
These people and their backers are extremely dangerous .
Every economist will tell you that trickle down economics does not work , less regulation does not work , the financial crash of 2008 is your reference , Fracking comes at great risk and now all of a sudden it doesn't which comes from Tufton Street .
Libertarians they are not , well they are but it's only limited to the super wealthy .
These people only see growth in terms of money , " Growth Growth Growth as Truss said last week .
Growth is not exclusive to money , growth is a better NHS , growth is better social services , growth is better terms and conditions in the workplace , growth is opportunity to attain education and aspire .
Even Thatcher wouldn't have entertained these fruitcakes which is saying something .
The truth is these people are the Dark State , the enemy of the people and The Anti Growth Coalition and they are now in government .
The worry is that the majority of people in this country have no idea what's currently going on .

If you read more about them you will discover they were also the driving force behind Brexit.
-
They've been the driving force behind every economic move to the far right in the last half century.
And they are allowed all the tax benefits of being a charity, while refusing to say who the donors are that give them their money to continue pushing this line.
Here's a clue though. The Koch Brothers are a pair of far right American billionaires who fund extreme libertarian free market think tanks in the USA. Go look them up.
The IEA runs the Richard Koch Prize every year. £50,000 for the best essay on extreme free market economics. Richard Koch is on the adjudication panel. But the IEA won't say where the £50k comes from.

We must get the Conservatives removed otherwise things like working rights (I work on the railway and support the strike action), NHS will be extinguished if a general election isn't called and not voted out.
Everyone support the Enough is enough campaign

a great watch, I believe the general public are wising up to what Tories are up to.
Every tory seat at next election needs to be taken out by voting for ONLY the other parties

the media are very highly influenced by the government, thing is will enough people in the country wise up to what's happening?

I think it's more likely to be the other way around 91, donors, hedge funds, fossil fuel, miners of any type, media moguls, etc support the think tanks and drive the wedges into the left which in turn supports the tories.

The country only wises up when middle England gets a kicking in my opinion .
Two things when in government you can't allow to happen , house prices fall and mortgages rise rapidly .
Middle England is about to get a good kicking , hence the polling we are seeing .
If house prices are rising and mortgages are cheaper the wealthy can avoid any tax they wish and benefits can be cut to the bone for all middle England cares .
The Tories are always in power just not always in office .

This sounds like a good way to go .......
''The EU has put in place a set of labour rules to ensure strong social protection. They include minimum requirements on working conditions - such as working time, part-time work, workers’ rights - to information about important aspects of their employment and the posting of workers. They have become one of the cornerstones of Europe's social policies.
The social partners - trade unions and employers' organisations - are involved in the shaping of European social and employment policies via the so-called social dialogue, through consultations and opinions, and can also negotiate framework agreements on specific matters''

Thank you Tyke.
I believe the clip you linked really is scary. It demonstrates the scale of the separation between the panoply of right wing fruitcakes and any sort of rationality at all. Talk about defending the indefensible! Yet these people have huge, huge power. This is covert subversion and this country has allowed it to prosper for decades.

The Tories still rant on about the unions being a threat to the country. They aren't a pinprick compared to the threat that the IEA has been for the past 50 years.
Well they've had their shot at full on implementation of their policies. And what a f**king disaster it has been. They should never be let near a politician or a TV studio again. At least not until they come clean about who funds them.

As Billy has alluded to Bob they need to be kept away from media platforms and that includes The Guardian .
The Labour Party need to get a grip on these fruitcakes like Thatcher did with the unions once in government .
These people need robust regulation and we need to know whose behind them and how deep they have penetrated our politics .
If they've nowt to hide then they will comply .

Ever seen one of those David Attenborough videos where a polar bear is trying to climb onto a disintegrating ice floe. And it can't get any purchase. The ice is too thin and keeps breaking.
It's horrific to watch. A once dominant beast floundering and unable to fathom what has happened to it.
Here's the Editor of the Telegraph who was triumphant when Truss was elected back in the dim and distant past, trying to make sense of the way in which his environment has imploded.

Apparently it's because the world is dominated by "scientistic" (no: me neither) lefty think tanks. And there's nothing on the Right to balance them.
I assume he's never been to 55 Tufton Street then? Or met the economists from the Institute for Economic Affairs who are on BBC politics programs week in, week out and who set out the KamiKwasi Budget?
