Title: Rugby League World Cup
Post by: Metalmicky on October 17, 2022, 11:49:03 am
Anyone going to the Rugby League World Cup Games at the Eco Power...?

France v Greece - tonight
Samoa v Greece - Sunday 23 Oct
PNG V Wales - Monday 31 Oct

Coverage should be on BBC iPlayer and the red button...

Watching the France v Greece Rugby League world cup match at the Eco Power stadium and i must say its very disappointing that the incidental music they have on when play is paused or when there has been a score sounds the worst out of all the venues that the games have been on so far. The PA system at the ground could really do with being updated, sounds very poor and gives a poor impression of the ground.

TBF the attendance is pretty average also...

I’m sure SM gave a report on the sound system that we inherited some time ago

1 bar open I the east stand at half time was pretty annoying, surely during the first half they could see that it was gonna get crowded at half time

Think out of the 3 games this will be the lowest attendance, (hopefully). 2 of the weakest teams in their groups.

Plus enjoyed having a beer Sat in my seat

I did have a quick look at getting tickets to see the price etc. But it then said I had to register etc etc and I just couldn't be bothered.  Why do they make it so tricky?

Prices throughout the tournament are on the steep side and are pricing people out of going. Some of the games involving England are ridiculous

Just for the Samoa v Greece at the eco power it's

Cat A £55 (middle of East stand)
Cat B £35
Cat C £20
£35 for adult wheelchair

Wales v png on the 31st is slightly cheaper. But will struggle to attract as many young families as tonight because it's Halloween night, and think some of the kids would probably prefer to go out and get free sweets.

Prices taken from the official rugby World cup site

Just had the closing minutes of New Zealand v Jamaica on in the background.

Jamaica were 68-0 down with 4 minutes left when they break through to score a try.

The sheer eruption of joy in the Jamaican side in response was an utter joy to behold. You'd think they'd just won the World Cup! Fantastic reactions.

Sometimes sport, unexpectedly, just makes you smile. Brilliant.

Heading to the New Zealand game tonight after the Rovers. Very much looking forward to it. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this World Cup so far. Even Londoners have begun to take an interest!

This Australia v New Zealand is as good as any standard of Rugby gets, so fast and brutal, and makes international Rugby Union look second class.
I don't think any England Rugby Union player would get anywhere near these two sides

Amazing match. I’m a Union fan but that was breathtaking in its skill and speed. Fantastic that both teams kept up such a ferocious tempo for 80 minutes.

Watch back the first 20!

The pace from Ado-Carr for the first Aus try was unbelievable.

Never really got into RL always played RU but watching a snippet of that is it just the intention to put people in hospital? One guy being tackled was flinging his elbows about at peoples heads like no tomorrow surely there has to be rules about how to avoid being tackled or is everything is OK as long as you dont actually punch someone?

What a game again this afternoon.  England eventually paid the penalty for not taking chances earlier in the game.

Samoa were excellent throughout.

Exciting end to the game but i couldn’t believe how poor England played. No disrespect to Samoa but i suspect a very one sided final. Hope not.

If the England of today had played the Aussies of friday then that would have been very one sided.
