Title: Fans
Post by: phil old leake on November 13, 2022, 07:36:13 am
Yesterday was my first game in ages because of where I’m living.  Unfortunately I had to sit with the Grimsby fans behind the goal next to the away support

I just want to mention that I thought the support from DRFC fans was excellent throughout the game.

Well done all. Just a shame I couldn’t have been in there

The support by the fans may have been excellent during the game, but  a small minority let themselves down again it would seem

If you actually read that article it doesn’t say with any fact that this involved our fans nor that any of our fans were arrested.

Before the game both donny and Grimsby fans were stood throwing bottles and cans at each other must’ve been 200 donny fans in one pub and around 100 Grimsby fans stood in two separate pubs next to each other with the police in the middle.
Without the police there would’ve been a full blown riot

Yes, I think that it was badly planned by the police, I walked into the Wetherspoons pub and there was rivalry banter between  both sets of fans but I was shocked to see people outside the pub drinking out of glass bottles.

The policing was shocking before the game to heard the donny fans who went on the train to take them to a pub which was directly either side of pubs with grimsby fans in and outside it was never gonna be quiete, then then rounding donny fans up to escort them to the ground via the prom they let grimsby fans follow on opp side of the road for a few 100 yard.didn’t see any trouble on way back to station but they may well of all been at home sulking by then

fans were going across the road to the shop to by cans before going across to the pub to drink, only couple glass bottles thrown both by grimsby fans as started walking towards the ground

Can I just add that the Remembrance Service was observed impeccably by everyone at the ground. Silence was only broken by a dog barking

And people laughing at the dog. And a few people talking near the end, albeit quietly. And the regular "I can't possibly hold this throat clearing in for another amount of time below 2 minutes so I must do so when everyone around me is silent".

What on Earth happened to that big popular pub opposite the pier? I think it was called "The Submarine".

That used to get packed with Rovers fans. It's completely demolished now.
