Title: Newport Away
Post by: Albert Trousers on December 01, 2022, 08:50:13 am
Anyone know if this will be a 3pm kick off, there was talk of it being moved for the world cup game but as the Welsh are out fingers crossed it will stay the same, just managed to bag some cheap train tickets.

Rovers First England Second lol
Guess only saving grace is it will be a 7pm K/O so not a direct clash with the game

Not much use for anyone travelling from Doncaster though. Probably make it back just as the England game finishes (unless it goes to pens)

True - worst case can get back over the border and watch in England

I don't know about iPlayer, Wolfie, but it's definitely on iFollow. It's one of the games listed following the lifting of the ban on games being streamed at 3.00 pm on Saturdays, during the duration of the World Cup.
think he means the England game

Not going now. Feel much more excitement about the England v France game than anything about our club at the moment. Really sad but true unfortunately.

Just been announced that kick off time will remain at 1500 on Saturday due to lack of interest from Newport in bringing forward.  Good news for anybody with train tickets booked.

Was considering going as a new ground, not missing the world cup though in winter.  EFL should have mandated it to 1pm to be fair, would've saved on electric too.

I’d have thought they would have jumped at the chance to move it and not have floodlights on. Really hoping weather cancels this now

Wonder if it had been Wales in the QF they would show no appetite to move it

Really, the EFL should have moved potentially clashes with England and Wales games months ago. They've had plenty of notice.

G
Wonder if it had been Wales in the QF they would show no appetite to move it

Guess they wouldn't as majority of their Welsh fans would be minutes from home and those within 90 mins Would (should) still have made it home

But as the English Dalek said "Eliminate Eliminate" so they didn't have that problem

We would (Im guessing) have gone the Electric saving route had we been at home

Either way Fans who have Train tickets etc have dodge
a bullet

If Wales were in the QF would you have wanted them to?

Common sense is to keep this game at the same time as fans will have bought train tickets ages ago. Can obviously understand folk wanting to watch England, but shifting it would set a worrying precedent of any EFL club being able to shift kick-offs at short notice with little consideration for fans.

All games during the World Cup are available on iFollow , so just pay a Tenner and stay at home , no Brainer.  You get to see both games warm and hassle free.

I'd thought similar. You'd hope that someone would be proactive about the possibility and if a pitch inspection required, do it as early as possible rather than make a decision when people are half-way there.

Or cover pitch up ? That would be proactive as well

5 degrees son on a pitch not shaded during daylight. Very wishful thinking the game being off.

Ref might be English and want to get back and call it off at 8am mind.
