Todays team

Was debating getting the game on ifollow today but Long & Faulkner on the bench with Williams the only recognised CB on the pitch has persuaded me to save my tenner and watch Portugal-Morocco.
-
County are a long ball team, who load the box from dead balls and long throws.
Not sure that team we have gone for is set up for that.
Dominant centre backs needed for the aerial threat.

By the time they realise and are two down Faulkner will be sent on.

Looking on our line up today Allie can say is. Oh dear. Hope I am wrong.
-
No Anderson or Oluwu. What the hell is going on?
-
Cannot understand this line up at all. Fearing the worst.
-
Team should have been
Mitchell
Long CB
Williams CB
Faulkener CB
Knoyle RWB
Maxwell LWB
Biggings MID
Close MID
Rowe MID
Clayton MID
Miller ST
-
I’m beginning to think that Schofield thinks he is better than he actually is at this coaching game, that side lacks the fundamentals to be a winning side
-
Seaman before Hurst?

Whenever Clayton is in the team we are too slow on the uptake.

I can only think that our best players are suffering with a virus.
Could be an interesting game :ermm:
I've paid my tenner. Lets see if I can be bothered to watch the 2nd half.
-
Not very inspiring that line up is it? Let's hope DS is right & we're all wrong....

I suspect Knoyle and Rowe will be playing centre half alongside Williams (would be naive to expect DS is changing system)
So that's our 2 most potent attacking threats playing centre half. Neither particularly tall up against a long ball team and Omar Bogle. With 2 tall competent centre halves on the bench.
Beginning to think our new manager is somewhat lacking in tactical awareness or even just plain common sense.

It did say on the DFP site that there was a sickness bug at the club earlier this week.

You know that when bogle saw that lineup his eyes lit up, he will be feeling a chance for a couple of goals here

i follow can't be bothered to say anything in advance of the game again, Newport have various things going on. Rovers, can't be bothered.
-
Anderson is ill according to Robbie on Comms. But Seaman ???
-
10 | Some really nice play from Rovers to carry and keep the ball deep in Newport territory. Ben Close lays off for Adam Clayton who blasts over the bar from the edge of the box
0-0
COYR
-
12 | Big block from Newport's Priestley Farquharson as Charlie Seaman squared for George Miller in the box. Superb through ball from Adam Clayton to Seaman to start the move
0-0
COYR
-
Sounds like a reasonable start from Rovers. Couple of chances created.
-
17 | Bit of pressure from Newport. The ball goes out to Aaron Lewis on the left but he finds the sidenetting
0-0
COYR
-
I can see what Schofield is trying to do, I just don’t think we have the players to execute it
-
21 | Good strength from Ben Close across the face of the box before he squares to Charlie Seaman who fired wide from 20 yards
0-0
COYR
-
Good strength & Ben Close in the same sentence? Wowzers.
-
29 | Close for the hosts. A long throw into the box is flicked on by Cameron Norman and Will Evans turns a header over the bar from two yards out
0-0

34 | So, so close. A beautiful ball through from Ben Close sends Max Woltman into the box. His trickery works space and he lashes the ball towards the far post where a sliding Harrison Biggins just fails to make contact
0-0
COYR
-
Close is an excellent and intelligent footballer, he would have thrived in SODs team.
He is playing some really good football today.
-
38 | Harrison Biggins smashes the ball on the bounce and draws the first save of the game from Newport keeper Joe Day. Real power on the strike
0-0
COYR
-
41 | Short corner routine from Rovers. Adam Clayton drills in low and Harrison Biggins runs onto the ball but sees his strike blocked
0-0
COYR
-
42 | Off the top of the bar! Great work from Ben Close out wide under a lot of pressure. He made space for himself and clipped in a cross which Tommy Rowe headed onto the top of the crossbar
0-0

We’ve been good so far. Let’s see if we can do something we haven’t for a few seasons - do it for a full game.
-
Don’t know how Biggins hasn’t scored yet.
Sure I heard that Newport have scored from more set pieces than from open play this season. No silly fouls around the box!
-
HT | That's the break
We're goalless at half time at Rodney Parade.
Some really promising play from Rovers in the later stages of the first half.
0-0
COYR
-
It’s the best performance I’ve seen from Close in a Rovers shirt, we’ve been inventive at set pieces and looked comfortable on the ball. We just don’t look clinical and if we concede first the feeling I have is that mentally we are fragile and won’t get back in it
-
Sounds like a definite improvement. Not too difficult maybe but looks like DS has had to shuffle the pack with enforced changes and come up with a formation that appears to be working.
-
We have been the better team (certainly the only one playing any kind of football) and deserve to be winning. If we could only put the ball in the net.
I've got a horrible feeling this will come back and bite us in the bum with Bogle scoring with his only chance in the game. :chair: :chair:
-
This is much better than the last two games, it gives you hope that Rovers might come away from Newport with something, maybe all 3 points.
-
Getting closer, no pun intended!
-
50 | Really not sure how we aren't in front. George Miller drew a save from keeper Joe Day, Charlie Seaman saw his follow-up blocked and Miller was crowded out as he tried to turn the ball home.
0-0
COYR
-
54 | Great reaction save from Jonathan Mitchell as he tips over James Waite's effort from an Omar Bogle cross
0-0
COYR
-
55 | George Miller is sent clean through but is denied by Newport keeper Joe Day. Best chance so far
0-0
COYR
-
0-1 !!!!!!
-
Knoyle … 0-1
-
58 | And what a strike it was from Knoyle!
Ben Close's cross was blocked but fell to Knoyle who lashed high into the net from a tight angle. No stopping that one!
Rovers lead!
0-1
COYR
-
61 | Omar Bogle hooks well over the bar from 15 yards
0-1
COYR
-
Deserve to lead, best we’ve played for a while
-
Terrific strike from Knoyle.
-
Sure Biggins just had a tweak on hamstring
-
66| SUBSTITUTION
First change of the afternoon for Rovers
OFF
Max Woltman
ON
Jon Taylor
0-1
COYR
-
ifollow now has lost his line useless pillock! Listening to Newport.
-
Back now
Edit: Spoke too soon :headbang:
-
Rovers trying to kill the game off, we need to press on, get a second and really kill it.
-
85 | Cameron Norman hooks over the bar from a Newport corner
0-1
COYR
-
87 | Aaron Wildig heads over the bar for Newport
0-1
COYR
-
I don’t think Taylor has touched the ball since coming on
-
90 | There will be a minimum of three minutes added at the end of the second half
0-1
COYR
-
90 | Just wide as Harrison Biggins strikes low from the edge of the box
0-1
COYR
-
Game over?
-
90+2 | Mickey Demetriou heads wide from a corner for Newport
0-1
COYR
-
Yes!!!!!
-
Fantastic win come on you reds
-
Game over?

Full time 0-1 a deserved win away from home
Onwards and upwards

Game over?
No it couldn’t have been game over, we hadn’t just gone 0-2 down after 48 minutes.!!
