Poor buggers
-
Hope they’ve got deep pockets.

Its been the rumour for a long time. Would be a potential good match. I would have taken him back here.
-
I would have taken him back here as well, we are short of car park attendants.
-
Finally...
-
We seemed to be doing much better when he was here than we are now so don't understand the reaction on here
-
He was crap with young players, especially the way he treated them behind the scenes, he had more money to spend than our present managers will ever get, he took us from a play off place at Christmas to relegation in May with the same players, and threw away a Championship season with the most illogical team selections in the last few games of the season, when it was easier to win the league.
And he left over being asked to manage a football club on reduced finance, admitting he cannot manage or build a team of players without throwing money at it, and has trashed the club in the press ever since.
He would be useless at Armthorpe Welfare never mind here.

Agree 100% Brian.
DF was good at spotting players in lower leagues. That’s about it.
As a tactician he was shocking. His man management was dubious. As was his ability to motivate.
How he managed to get us relegated in 15/16 is beyond me with the players he had.
To not win the league the following season was beyond criminal imo.
To allow the players to take their foot off the gas with a Champions trophy there for the taking. Yes we went up but where was that winning mentality right up to the last kick of the season.
Would I want him back? Not a chance I would. Good luck to MK Dons if they take him. Marriage made in heaven. We will see.

Not a good manager for us.

Not a good manager for us.
Not currently but if we had money to spend I’d have him back.
-
Compared with Wellens and Gary Mc, he was a f*cking genius.
-
Poor manager but he signed a raft of absolutely excellent players.

Poor manager but he signed a raft of absolutely excellent players.
This is correct analysis.
Also worth remembering he gave out very long contracts to Evina, Middleton and Lund and then never played them, and signed Etheridge and threw him under a bus after his very first mistake.

One thing that sticks in my mind on Ferguson, and maybe explains why he was ultimately a poor manager in spite of signing very good players, followed Etheridge's error.
Etheridge looked distraught coming off the pitch, he walked straight passed Ferguson who blithely and deliberately totally ignored him.
-
Obviously didn’t pick up his old man’s man management skills. I suspect he’s been spoiled all his life. A very ordinary footballer who played higher than players that were better than him. Same as a manager, had more opportunities than soft Mick.
-
It’s interesting that his recruitment was either very good or very bad- perhaps that shows how difficult it is, particularly when there is no big budget, but we haven’t found anyone since that matches DF’s recruitment record- or whoever else was identifying the talent for him.
-
Last season they made some very good loan signings and got around 90 points finishing 3rd ... Just as unfashionable Shrewsbury (a few years ago) struck it lucky ?? With loan signings and also finished 3rd.
The "culprit" for those loans was nicked by no other club than DRFC . He then moved on to Villa.
This season MK sold players and appear to have signed loanees of a similar standard as DRFC had last season .
Sheffield Wednesday played their best game in years tobeat MK away late inthe season and derail the " MK Promotion Express " allowing Rotherham to crawl into the promotion spot.
This season Plymouth have the quality loan signings (plus a Premiership bound goalkeeper)
-
Remember an initerview he did after a match at their place when he was our boss. Like a job interview the way he was sucking up to their incredible club and set up.
-
I’d take him back in a heartbeat. Head and shoulders above the last four managers we’ve had/have.
-
Fergie for Portsmouth (see my Brucie thread) might be a good shout
we can all live in Disney Fantasy land and it helps that their owner is an x-director of them
