What do we think the chances are of the game being on tomorrow? It's incredibly cold at the moment and using my back garden as a benchmark, it seems pretty frozen.
What do we reckon?
-
Pitch has supposedly been covered but if the frost has got into the ground like it has in my garden then there is no chance.
-
A couple of games off already, wouldnt be surprised if ours is the next.
-
Not a chance it’s going ahead, down to -6 tonight. We’ve had games called off in more mild weather than this.
-
Really hope it's on as I love the pre-Christmas weekend game. However, not sure it's been above freezing all week (certainly hasn't in West Sheffield), so it doesn't bode well. Saw the article in the Free Press re: covers on the pitch, but if covers were that effective against the kind of sustained freezing temperatures we've seen the last 7 days, no one would ever bother with under soil heating. Hope to be eating these words tomorrow.
They might not call it until late, with the local(ish) opposition.

Not sure where you have got -6 from for tonight, seems to be -1 max, pretty warm today and I’m sure the covers protect up to -5,
Can’t see this game not being on! (Famous last words)
-
A day too early this one looking at the weather.
Another chore of a Tuesday night game
-
Don’t they ‘normally’ leave the pitch inspection until the morning of the match?
I hope it’s an early inspection (before 11 a.m.) if that’s the case to help ‘out of town’ supporters.
-
There is four games off already in League Two from up and down the country..... currently Wimbledon, Hartlepool, Stockport and Tranmere....... and Peterborough's game also off in League One.

I hope not as I’m up from Tring !
-
Weathers not looking too bad for tomorrow, it’s going to be up to a balmy +3 degrees at kick off and only down to minus 2 degrees over night. Think I’ll get the deck chairs out!

If it's this cold here, imagine it in Hartlepool.
It was that cold in Stainy today some of the parents had long sleeve pyjamas on dropping the kids at school.

You and me too. I'll be setting off around 11am but I'll be having a couple of stops to check the latest.

The Peterborough one doesn't surprise me, I've been near Ipswich the last few days, on the drive down it hit minus 9.5°
It's not been above freezing while I've been here.
-
Lets just hope the pesky authorities don't get involved, we can't have people walking out and about in this weather !!

Hell fire, hope the standard of digs has improved then

not sure what app you looking at but least I get on mine is 0 tonight so all depends if frost has got underneath covers as they been on all week so coukd be as late at 12 midday for it to be poss called off tomorrow
-
only 4 games reman in League Two.... not very hopeful now.
-
I work not far from the stadium, the ground has been frozen for days really cannot see it going ahead
-
Pammy and I wont be there tomorrow .............both have bad colds and earlier i hurt my back ....ready for the knackers yard
see you all just after Christmas
Happy Christmas all Donny supporters and players etc
please may we still have a win saturday?
-
I can't even get the car off my street in Scarborough because of the snow. Solid ice underneath. No footie for me tomorrow
-
I’m 30 miles away from you in Helmsley. We’ve had no snow here but really hard frosts.
It’s not the motorways that are the problem (for us the A1) it’s getting to & from them.
You’ll know Sutton Bank on the A170 living in Scarborough. If that is closed you can add another 30 minutes to your journey both ways as you navigate B roads through out lying villages. You want to support the team but after 55 + years of following Rovers, do we ever ‘earn the right’ to say “this one’s too big an ask?”
-
I just hope the ground is better than here in deepest darkest Lincolnshire. It’s been permafrost for 2 weeks and like concrete. If it’s anything like it is here there’s no chance. Hope the covers work!!
-
Really hoping it’s on - I think it will be warm enough to thaw out. It’s not too bad even now in Sprotbrough
-
Is it still on ifollow as the world cup has not officially ended yet

Yes.
-
I’m really hoping it’s on and we can sneak a scrappy win and climb the table while other games are off. I’ll be watching online with the World Cup on TV.
-
Inspection at 10am.
-
No way is this going to be on, the sun is too low in the sky to get on most of the pitch and its white over with frost and has been for days

Depends on whether the covers have done their job.
It is possible the pitch is playable.
What concerns me is do they think the areas outside the ground are safe.
They may be very icy.
How likely they have all been gritted?
Hope it’s on but my gut feeling is it won’t be.

Postoned announced on official site
-
Game is off according to Facebook, not sure if it's official though.
-
Definitely off
-
It’s OFF
No surprise really

Not the worst outcome. Pretty much everyone else is also not playing, including our next opponents Tranmere Rovers, so there is no rustiness discount for the next game. Plus also gives us another week and more to get our injured lads back up to speed. Looks like next week the frost is over so they can train back at Cantley without any issues. Harrogate were not going to be bringing many so shifting to midweek means we won't have lost much in away support through the gate.
-
Time to get those frost protection covers off the pitch then, it is going to warm up tomorrow, may as well let the pitch breathe as much as possible and minimise damage to the grass

As I've said in the other thread, CBCB, we don't usually do well after a matchless spell.
-
The club shop will be losing a good few Christmas present sales today I suppose as well.

Weather forecast for Liverpool area between now and Boxing Day looks ok. Decent temperatures and the odd day of light showers. Be very surprised if this doesn’t take place based on current forecast.
