I’ve just been asked by my young boys who the next big star will be. Without Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Lewandowski etc nearing the end of their careers who do you think the next superstar will be?
Obviously the media will focus on Mbappe. Then there is Haaland, Foden, Bellingham and so on. But for an all round player who can do a bit of everything I’m going for Julian Alvarez. About to win a World Cup and with Man City could win everything

Bellingham for me.
He appears to have the all round game to be able to play in any of the midfield roles.

Faulkner
-
Trouble with Haaland is he's unlikely to star in a World Cup.
-
I think the fact that Mbappe is 5-6th on the list of all time WC goalscorers, at 23 years old, answers your question.
-
Also does anyone actually consider Neymar to be great? Most overrated footballer in the world for me.
-
Neymar doesn’t make the top 10 of the last 40 years, barely scrapes into the 10 of the last 25 years
-
Barely scrapes into the current top 10 !

I’d keep an eye on that masked man, the Croatian CB/LB

Problem is with Centre Halves is they rarely get the plaudits they deserve but he is outstanding. Got sodomized by Messi for their 2nd? The other night but he is very good.
Morocco's number 8 for me. Onouha. At Angers at the moment but will most definitely get a move in January. One of the most sought after players in the world.

That lad from Brighton, Macallister, had a great tournament for Argentina

If Arsenal keep progressing Saha and Smith Rowe will become world famous with Bellingham a third almost of the England outfield players that are very young.
There has been a massive shift in youth football coaching in the UK and we are no longer behind our pears, at the top Man City , Liverpool, Chelsea bring in the top youth from all over the world, Even our own club are miles in front of where we used to be.
I would not at all be surprised to see UK superstars join the Spanish and Germans at producing world class players on a more regular basis, the number of all weather pitches have changed the underbelly of the UK game for the good.

Ro-Shaun Williams.

Alvarez is great.
The best young player at the WC was Jamal Musiala, by quite a distance actually. I think young player of the tournament went to Fernandez of Argentina. Musiala worth treble what he is.
-
Nightporter how does that work. You can’t be a great player if you don’t star in a World Cup
I think G Best fans would disagree along with R Giggs, N Southall, A Di Stefano, D Edwards and E Cantana to name some

Yeah Musiala is a very good call.

Have you forgotten or maybe you’re too young to mention Bobby Moore and Gazzer.
