Title: Anti-Strike laws
Post by: roverstillidie91 on January 06, 2023, 08:30:38 am
Restricting the right to strike,
the right to protest,
the ability to vote,
the right to claim asylum,
abrogating the Human Rights Act

It is clear to see this country is becoming a 'totaltarian' country.

Industrial strikes are the least of our worries.

Tricky one that rtid91 - are we becoming or have we become?

Communist countries passed laws to enforce equality, fascist countries passed laws to enforce inequality btw. I think you probably meant 'totalitarian' - which covers them both - rather than communist. Because that's exactly what we are NOT becoming!

Don't worry! Sir Keir will restore all worker's rights to strike, just like Tony Blair did the last time Labour got into power. A bit like when Maggie Thatcher The Milk Snatcher scandalously took away school milk for junior school kids, the Labour party restored it when they got back into power.

Great valid point and yes sorry l change the wording what is happening affects us all. Sign the petition 133,000 signed up and 50,000 in the last 2 weeks alone.

Id be intrigued for those who voted NO to speak up and say why we aren't becoming a Russia or a China. Industrial action is a democratic right under international law.

More authoritarian in recent years but that is definitely a stretch!

Look up Uyghur camps in China and read reports of their lockdowns. People speak up against the CCP and go missing.

Sunak isn’t poisoning his political opponents or getting them pushed out of windows either! Nor are we invading sovereign countries.

It happens by creep though so you’re right to stay vigilant.

Communism is about equality in the sense that millions end up equally poor and dead, yes.

All animals are equal in Animal Farm, aren’t they?

But some are more equal than others, 2 legs bad, 4 legs good

Yes and if you want to put it that way, 'millions becoming poor and dead' rtid91 was probably correct to equate Sunak's Tory Britain to a communist country.

will they keep the NHS in public hands and relationalise all the other public services and create a more fairer society where the rich are taxed more and people don't have to use food banks and travel on buses to keep warm?

No one has yet convinced me that Keir Starmer gets my vote, well the local MP
