Not sure where he signed from, but he also played in the North East Counties for Pilks.

I haven't found the topic about Southampton/Rovers players so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

Anyone else remember Paul Gilchrist, sold to Ted Bates' Southampton for £30K in the early 1970's. Motson once described Paul  as 'the emerging young Gilchrist' on Match of the Day. Sadly, he didn't pupate. Injury finished him. Last time I heard of him, maybe10 years ago,  he was living about 15 miles from me in a village outside Swindon. He was a good player. A forward.

I recall Travis, circa 84/85. Used to sport a perm and a bit of a ‘tache if I remember rightly?

Anyone else remember George Miller, signed for Rovers from Barnsley in 2022?

Sorry, Bob, I couldn't resist. We've been talking about Gilchrist now for the last few days. Why couldn't you find the Rovers/ Southampton thread? It's just a few threads down from this one.

Craig,

Everyone had a perm and a 'tache' in 1984.  You'll have to think of other distiguishing features!!

Was very mid 80s in his appearance. Worked really hard in the middle of the park. My overriding memory is of him having a great game in the all green away kit, March 85, 3-2 win in a mud bath at Milmoor. The game would not have gone ahead now. In fact you never see professional pitches remotely like that now
I also don't recall us winning at Rotherham since that day

I was there when he scored his only Rovers goal, an equaliser in a 1-1 draw away at Bristol Rovers at Eastville.
