I wonder if Silent Majority could answer a few questions please.
I sometimes get confused when people refer to "the club" in various threads, as I'm not sure exactly what they mean..
As I understand it, Club Doncaster Limited and Doncaster Rovers Limited are two separate legal entities, each registered as a private limited company at Companies House. CDL is owned by Messrs Bramhall, Blunt and Baldwin, who each hold one third of the shares. DRL is majority owned by CDL. The board of directors of each company comprises the three owners of CDL
My questions:
1. Does the term "club sustainability" refer to CDL or to DRL?
2. Am I right in assuming that the Shadow Board only shadows DRL?
3 Which company holds the lease (or freehold?) of the stadium and grounds?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You are correct in your understanding of the legal situation, DRL is owned by CDL.
1) Sustainability would refer to Club Doncaster.
2) The Shadow Board is set up to shadow DRL, although the terms of reference will still need to be tinkered with as there is no template passed down from Government or EFL/EPL after accepting the recommendations from the FLR.
3) The lease on the stadium is actually held by the Foundation, which in turn is held by CDL.

Many thanks for the reply SM. Much appreciated.

SM ..do you know whether any discussions have taken place with a view to buying the stadium from the council ?

It's never been up for discussion as far as I'm aware Brian.
When I attended the original council meetings where this deal was sorted out it was clear the council wanted to keep hold of their assets but not wanting to run them. Even if the council did want to dispose of the Eco Power stadium they would have to offer it to the VSC first as we hold the ACV on it and the surrounding land.

Thank you SM .It would certainly attract a future investor into the clinb of it included a freehold of the stadium .

Or chancers looking to make money out of the club.

Absolutely true DBR! Property ownership is a core ingredient for those who acquire clubs wanting to line their own pockets! My understanding was that the club bought a fairly long lease on the property. Is that true I wonder.

I don't think it was coincidental that the aggressive Sequentia bid that was fronted by JR came within months of the club gaining the leasehold of the stadium and surrounding areas!
Whilst the stadium has clauses protecting it for sporting purposes the surrounding land doesn't.

Somebody will (hopefully ) buy the club as this generation of ownership goes unless TB and DB do as Max Griggs did and hand Rushden and Diamonds to the fans.
