Complete and utter waste of money, poor when he is fit and usually he's sat in the stands with us lot. Earning c£200k a year, more than a Prime Minister gets. He's a massive millstone around our neck at the moment.

Biggins, Williams, Olowu and Faulkner all worth zero
Not the most credible I would suggest

Taylor will not be on more than 2.5K per week. There is no one earning anywhere near 4K per week at DRFC.

I thought I read somewhere that he was offered a 2 year contract, but he suggested a 3 year contract for the same total amount, i.e. at 2/3 of what he was offered per week. If so that would be a better deal for the club than the one offered. Maybe someone else can back that up?

I'd believe the Daily Mail before I trusted anything from Transfermarkt.com
But there's some right old shite being said about Taylor on this thread. From signing until his serious injury (typically going in wholeheartedly to try to get a shot off while some in the side were going through the motions) there were 59 league games. He played in 53 of them. Pretty much all in the top half of L1 and he rarely looked out of place.
There's some disgusting "stealing a wage" comments here. Some people ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Don’t know anything about that but it is possible that was what was agreed.

You're not too far off. Without knowing the exact monetary detail, he's not on the wages many assume he is and he's on a lower basic if he's not playing. Before our assessment is tainted by his injury woes, at the time in Gavins words "it was a no brainer"

I agree. 4K is about 3.5k more than nurses get a week, 3.250k than a teacher and more than twice as much as a GP earns.
If that makes sense then the world is mad.
There are some Premier league footballers earning 300k per week. Now that is obscene imo.

As BST says, Taylor was a good L1 player and reliable until that first injury, against Portsmouth IIRC. It looked a really bad one at the time and it was through 100% commitment from Taylor chasing a 50/50 ball. I would agree with the 'no-brainer' at the time.
That plus the sort of contract he is on puts a very different and certainly more positive perspective on things, for both player and club.

Both are out on loan because neither showed any enthusiasm to drop down to league one and neither will either of them leave permanently due to their sizable current terms .

That’s crazy Tyke. Who is the idiot authorising those wages to a club who ave around 13.000 gates in The Championship and less than 10.000 in League 1
Football clubs are run by people living in Fantasy land. Well not all of them. DRFC are the exception it would seem. Our Board won’t spend 1p more than is needed to keep the club solvent.
Or at least that’s the way it looks at present.
One extreme to the other. We are going nowhere, just stagnating and around 43% of clubs are heading for insolvency. :facepalm:

Players wages have always baffled me. When did it all go wrong?
When kicking a ball around gets you paid more than the Prime Minister, a brain surgeon, a chief constable of a police force, an airline pilot, a head of an Armed Force. People with real proper responsibility.
Utterly utterly ridiculous. And we, as a society, have allowed it to happen.
It’s not just football either, but football seems to be plagued with it the most.
The numbers are just mind boggling.
Football has become much more than just a sport. It’s an institution. And large parts of it have become rotten because of greed and the desire for success.

Whilst football fans are distracted by matters on the pitch, behind the scenes there's some extremely dodgy dealings going on.
Unfortunately the crims are always a step ahead of the authorities in finding ways to launder money in and out of the game.
