Title: Jon Taylor - Question
Post by: Canadian Rover on January 20, 2023, 12:32:15 am
Silly question and I am prepared to be shot down for it.

Would his wages (or some portion) be covered by insurance?

At my company we have a policy that kicks in when someone’s off for more than 6 months but football is clearly very different with a higher risk of someone being out of action so inevitably the premiums would be larger (if it’s even possible) and it may be that we’re just protected for career ending injuries.

I think it’s DonnyBazRover who has said a couple of times that he gets paid far less when he’s not playing, though, so you would think that him being injured would free up some funds anyway.

I’m sure he doesn’t want to be injured. Players of his type with an explosive side to his running ,tend to be prone to injuries.

Wouldn’t Surprise me if he left by mutual consent at the end of the season , Steve brooker comes to mind

Nobody is saying he wants to be injured, we aren't celebrating his terrible luck here. Merely wondering if the club decreasing it's costs when a player is out for such a period.

I know, Canadian, it’s a shame he has such bad luck with injuries. With his ability and experience he would be asset to the side.

Seconded Sammy, players are not pieces of meat and the club has a duty of care towards them.
I may be mistaken but I think the clubs pay into a communal with the other EFl clubs insurance but am not one hundred per cent sure about that
He played well for us before injury and was a threat going forward, and as far as I know a popular and important member of the playing staff. He must be worried himself about his own well being and future health and has gone through a lot, and like the club deserves a break and some luck.

It's probably more likely the club has insurance for medical costs. However, unlikely to take out individual insurance policies to cover injuries to any players as the premiums would likely be huge.

Players will probably have choices of insurances via the PFA etc.
