Great story, it's a village with half the population of Edlington! Got to one of the biggest upsets in football history since my four-year old nutmegged me in the back garden.

On that clip, some of the football played by Darvel was really good.
Great night for them.

Fantastic. In terms of tiers and league positions, it's the equivalent of AFC Fylde knocking Spurs out of the FA Cup.

Possibly the equivalent of Armthorpe welfare or Rossington Main knocking Spurs out of the cup.

When you look at the standard of the Scottish league 2 and then think Darvel are two levels below that, i very much doubt they are much better if better than North East Counties level.

Equally if you’re considering the relative standard rather than just the tiers then Aberdeen are nowhere near as good as Spurs. Still doesn’t take away from what an amazing achievement it is!

That’s a fair point Nick.  Aberdeen are probably our Championship level and probably bottom end of it.
I might even be being generous in that assessment.

I would think a few of their players are being looked at as well as the manager, by other teams. They seem a quite ambitious club. I feel like if Scotland had the funding our game has had, they could improve everything. Become much more competitive in European competitions, and their leagues would be stronger. It’s the same in Wales and both Ireland’s.

Darvel are owned by the guy who owns Brownings. They make the famous Kilmarnock Pie amongst other great bakes. It used to be the Killie pie when they were the main sponsors of Kilmarnock FC but a falling out on who owned the name made them walk away from Kilmarnock FC and rename the pie. He was reportedly putting a million quid a year in to Kilmarnock FC. He put his money behind Darvel which is just down the road from Kilmarnock and not too far away from Hurlford, the birthplace of the great Colin Douglas.
“Say ay to a Killie Pie” sounds much better than “say ay to a Kilmarnock Pie”
And I can vouch that they are great.
