Title: Best own goal scored (meaning furthest from goal) scored by a Rovers Player
Post by: Colemans Left Hook on January 27, 2023, 01:47:29 pm
The one at Tottenham (was it 7-2 after we went 1-0 up ?) when a lot of our current "apprentice" supporters parent's were not even born  must take some beating

in fact all entrants to the hall of shame including Alick And Marquis deserve a mention

Matt Mills at Grimsby springs to mind. Howling wind, heading our goal kick back to the keeper!

The Mills own goal came from a goal kick  against a gale force wind , no Grimsby player touched the ball and it never hit the ground, a Rovers player out wide headed the ball from the goal kick the wind got hold of it and blew it back towards our goal Mills headed it and the wind got hold of it into the back of our net.
  Only the Rovers.

Couldn't have described it better! Talk about self inflicted!'

Yes, we'd just got back into the game at Spurs with a goal from Kitch to make it 2-2, when Les Chappell passed back to Dennis Peacock, who misread it and it went in to make it 3-2 to Spurs.

Peacock then had a mare for the last 20 odd minutes, and Spurs scored another 4. By contrast, Pat Jennings had a blinder, and one Spurs supporter said after the game that had the goalkeepers been the other way round, Rovers would have won.

My 1st ever away game watching Rovers.
John Duncan hat trick second half spoilt what was a great 1st half performance.
Can’t remember much about that own goal.
