Title: Away form
Post by: colincramb on February 18, 2023, 07:06:07 pm
Is flaky, at best. But, our home form is generally pretty good. Out of the current top 9 we’ve beat:

Salford
Stockport
Sutton
Carlisle
Drawn with LO

We’ve got 8 home games left. Majority of which are against teams currently below us.

It’s not inconceivable that we could win all 8. That would give us 70pts. Now I know it’s unlikely but if we can just pick up a few on the road wins then you never know.

Starts with Bradford. Big, big game that I feel

The five worst home records in League Two are Rochdale, Grimsby, Hartlepool, Newport and Harrogate. We have played most of those now already. I can’t see us winning too many on the road.

Not many expected us to win at Swindon

And nobody expected us to lose at hartlepool

Exactly
This is why you can’t look at fixtures and start trying to predict them

They obviously lost today but didn’t deserve to in mine, my sons and a few supporters around us. Cracking atmosphere by the rovers fans

completely agree, if millers chance had gone in we’d have been 1-0 up a minute into the 2nd half and would’ve been a completely different game and think we’d have won comfortably. Playing some good football, just need to improve in both boxes.

We are better when not expected to win , in away games. The manager needs to change a few positions. We need Rowe in midfield but any defender who comes in has to do well at linking the ball to the midfield.

If you play Rowe in midfield who do you not play?

I thought TR played well yesterday. Lakin and Close are forming a very good partnership in midfield.

We would have to change formation to accommodate TR in midfield.

Rowe would play behind the striker for me. Probably Molynuex would drop out. That said he’s done well at centre back and unless Anderson is fit I wouldn’t change that back 3.

I think I am right in saying that since we beat Charlton 3-1 back in September 2020 over 2.5 years ago, we haven’t scored a single goal against anyone in London other than AFC Wimbledon. We seem to have developed a decent record at their new stadium for some reason.

Last 3 away league games at Wimbledon all 2-2 draws. Last 2 at new stadium
We also drew away 1-1 in the FA cup in Nov 2019

How many games have we played in London in that time since beating Charlton 3-1 in Sept 2020.
Leyton Orient once
Charlton once
Sutton once.
Other than those Wimbledon games above post which we scored in all of them and lost none of them.

Not sure it’s a statistic we should be concerned about imo.

We have played AFC Wimbledon three times in the league at their new stadium - 3 November 2020, 26 February 2022 and 13 August 2022.

I didn’t think rowe was too bad yesterday, a couple of bad touches late on when trying to rush forward but I do like him there, was also a great ball from him for laverys chance. Nelson had a great first half and didn’t do anything wrong second apart from losing the header for their 1st goal, Olowu had a very poor 2nd half imo.

Yes correct we have. 1st one behind closed doors due to Covid.
